Hi, I've always admired your graphic signature since I first seen it and out of respect for you here on the forum would like to ask if it's ok with you if I follow your design, different elements of course, but the same basic layout. I use the wolf graphic as my flotilla emblem (Seewolfe) in my group U-boat Command. If this isn't ok with you please say so. I would definitely give credit where credit is due for the design layout.

I'm not a kid trying to copy you, I have a family of my own. I just appreciate good work when I see it.

Yeah, go ahead, my fellow Canuck. My sig line was designed for me by Chrystine, who hasn't been seen here for some months. I don't think there should be any copyright issues.

Mine was also designed by the famous Chrystine...and gifted to me by her. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

She was swell! and I miss her as well! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Note the similar artistic elements. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

Funny thing is whenever I post a message back to K1961 I think I talking to Gross Admiral Donitz http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Alright, Otto, I'm going to have to do something about that. I'll have to get a pic of me and post it; that should remove all doubt: middle aged, bald guy with a shortly cropped beard, looks nothing like Onkel Karl.

Kaleun1961 dressed up in kriegsmarine uniform? Nice idea for a new contest. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Ya don't have to post anything...It's just funny how we key in on visual images.

This obviously isn't me below...It's Kapitan zur See Wolfgang Luth...

But in this photo...he looks exactly like me...everytime I look at this photo I think I'm looking in a mirror. It's uncanny http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

It does make you wonder about previous incarnations. Well, a more scientific explanation would make reference to DNA. Who knows to whom we each may be genetically related? How many people can trace their ancestry back more than three or four generations? I was looking through one of my Time-Life series about the Third Reich and found my perfect doppelganger in a panzer turret, of all places! Really, I must make the effort to dig out some photos and scan them in.

A while back I went through an old photo post and saved some photos of my forum friends. You do indeed look like Luth, Otto.

hopefully I don't end up like him...! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

yeah, that photo is still there I guess...I was on leave from my 'Job' so I grew a beard, Luth also grew beards on his long patrols.

Kaleun i know that my family tree was traced back to i think it was 6 generations before the american civil war, but every last relative that fought in wars i know what they were in and what happened but theres around 42 members of my family that fought in wwii in the european theater and the pacific theater, most was in the pacific as marines, but the few that was in europe werent fighting for the germans, but i did find one website when i was searching talking about its for people that belive in a past life they fought with the germans in WWII.

But anyways i always wondered how you got those banner type pictures at the bottom of each post i know how to do the text but not the pictures i created a very crude one of U-99 when she was still operational

I read this Vause's book about Luth and first of all remember his beard there is something magic in his beard for sure it is not regular beard ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifbut at picture posted by Silent Otto he looks like Hollywood actorhttp://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f364/Janek73/100_0066.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f364/Janek73/100_0065.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f364/Janek73/100_0068.jpg

No, I've never had a beard like that, that's like a fishermans beard.

Luth is/was clearly more bald than I am (I've got the skull cap bald spot going, but still have hair)

But the bone structure and grin, that's me! that last photo is one I haven't seen either, and again, it's me (but he's more bald)

If he and I were alive at the same time, I don't think we'd agree. He was quite the Loyal NAZI. The Cleancut 1WO in Buchheim's book (and in the movie DAS BOOT) were based loosely on Luth's personality. He was known as a "Hard Father" to his crew. I'm more of a "loose cannon" type leader, unpredictable, witty etc.
