i had some serious video problems with this game for a while and ran a bunch of benchmarks trying to debug. gave up and just reformatted. after things got running better i discovered some pretties.

i have trackir4 so i run the following setup:
1600x1200x32
v sync=on
triple buffering=on

these scores and pics are from Black Death track:

2xAA none w=2 f=2 e=0 min=16 max=62 avg=41.4
2xAA none w=2 f=2 e=1 min=16 max=62 avg=40.7
2xAA none w=2 f=2 e=2 min=10 max=62 avg=38.1

2xAA none w=2 f=3 e=0 min=17 max=62 avg=42.6
2xAA none w=2 f=3 e=1 min=16 max=62 avg=41.8
2xAA none w=2 f=3 e=2 min=10 max=62 avg=39.2

4xAA 8xAF w=2 f=2 e=0 min=15 max=62 avg=33.6
4xAA 8xAF w=2 f=2 e=1 min=14 max=62 avg=33
4xAA 8xAF w=2 f=2 e=2 min=09 max=62 avg=31.5

4xAA 8xAF w=2 f=3 e=0 min=15 max=62 avg=34.2
4xAA 8xAF w=2 f=3 e=1 min=14 max=62 avg=33.6
4xAA 8xAF w=2 f=3 e=2 min=09 max=62 avg=32

w=water
f=forest
e=effects

Really immersive views, I took these a week ago while on a mission because I was so impressed.

And the frame rate doesn`t even seem to drop compared to forest=2. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Seafire, what map is that? I changed from 2 to 3, but there weas no difference. I tried it on the Moscow, Crimea and NW Europe maps---no joy.

Make sure you set it under the correct driver you are using [DirectX] or [OpenGL] - or just set both.

frame rate seems to drop only by one when seeing the changes. must render everything better in the long run to justify my scores. looks great.

its interesting because you'd think that my minimums would be 1 frame lower.

The only bad thing about forest=3 is that any forest objects that are placed on the map by a map builder (object 165 and 166) are invisible when you use forest=3. This can be bad as the collision boxes are still present so you can run into invisible trees if they were placed on the map.

need to be using open gl and set landscape detail to perfect.

bummer. well just don't use 3 on those maps or place blame on mechanical failure if you do.

Thanks guys, but I did set it under open gl (that's what I've had the game set to since the beginning) and am on perfect settings. I get water=4 just fine. I'll try again.

P.S. Could it be the drivers? I've got gforce 6800 pro and have been trying out the new Nvidea ones--81.98 and 82.12. They, along with the new (end of December) dll's from Oleg give great water+4, although there are some occasional screen glitches and I've had one "Blue Screen of Death."

Thanks for that IceFire http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I was using FMB last night & could not work out why those trees would not show up, even though they were there.
Forest3 eh!
You've saved me a fresh install.

This was on the new Riga map, but it works on all others, just as the others say. I did have the same trouble, can`t remember how I got it to work. I have a 6800Gt and the 81.85 drivers.

Settings are perfect. Use dither, use vertex arrays, polygon stipple. Texture mipmap: anisotropic. texture compression ST3C. OpenGL.

Hope that helps.

One thing I must add about 4.02 AI, they`re not afraid to kiss the treetops when running. I was chasing a FW190 in a Spit and he was skimming these very trees in his attempts to get away from me. Wouldn`t turn fight either... nice. In fact he did escape.
