I got a 1.7ghz pent. 4 and a 256mb RAM and a NVidia TNT2 mod 64 with 32mb ram. Looks like Im gonna have to upgrade. Will the fact that my processor is less than the min be a big problem?

thanks

That was min for running in perfect mode. Your chip is plenty fast to run the game. I would definitly upgrade the video card and ram first of all. TI4200s and radeon 9600s are pretty cheap, as is ram.

As I understood it, those were recommended components only if you wanted "perfect" settings for landscape.

Here's the quote:

"Changes and fixes in Perfect mode.

To start the updated variant, last versions of drivers are required - ATI Catalyst 2.4, NVidia Detonator 44.03 (or latest WQHL certified)

To play in this mode with pleasure we recommend:
Video card: Geforce4, ATI 9500 or better, with at least 128 Mb of texture memory.
Processor: 2.4 Ghz or higher.
Memory: 512 MB or more"

You would be fine with current drivers, because your system cant even close to run perfect mode. If your current drivers dont cause problems, there is no reason to upgrade them.

As a general rule, it's a good idea to always go with the latest drivers for all your hardware.

As stated before, a TNT 2 will not be able to run in perfect mode. (or anywhere near it I imagine) but it is always recommended to install the newest drivers possible.
With Invida's latest 4403 I have noteced much less lockups in single player.
To check your driver follow this

1.right clk on your desktop
2.from menu select properties
3.select settings
4.select advanced
5.select adapter
6.select properties
7. select driver tab
8.from dropdown menu 3rd entry down will say driver version (I.E. mine says 4.4.0.3.)

Upgrading to a 4200 or even a 4600 is not in the relm of bankers anymore and going to 512 mb ram would boost your preformance considerably.
