View Full Version : IL-2 + VR920 stereoscopy = stuttering ?

I am using Vuzix VR920 in IL-2, and I disable the regular LCD when using VR920. It works all fine if I do not enable stereoscopy. But with stereocopy enabled, the FPS becomes very, very low. I tried setting anything in conf to minimum, but no improvement.

AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core 2.50 GHz
GeForce 9800 GTX+
Vista 64 bit

I also tried it on my friend's machine, which has 9800 GTX 260, and WinXP. Same problem.

Anybody who encountered the same problem? Is there a solution?

Thank you for looking at my problem!

For stereoscope viewing using VR920,

1. make sure both the Windows desktop resolution and the game resolution are set to 640 x 480 pixels and 16 bit colour - stereoscopy will not work at higher resolutions with the VR920 and IL2 - hopefully, this will be subject to improvement in future driver and/or firmware updates.

2. Il2 must be set to play in DirectX mode (ie it must NOT be in openGL mode).

Hope this helps...

Even though it says support up to 1024x768 that doesn't change the number of pixels.
Good news is you should be able to put a load of AA and filtering at 640x480 without
slowing that 9800 down, aye?

I've worn I-Glasses in 1999 just trying them out.
They were maybe 640x480, maybe less and still a terrific watch IMO running on TV-out from a laptop.
They weren't bad hooked up to TV either, better looking than numbers alone would seeem.
When you can watch TV while lying face-down on the couch (no neck twist) it's a definite plus.
