I am running a GeForce 6600GT at 1152x864 with everything maxed and I am getting some strange stuff with smoke and black/red outs.

Instead of an even shading it appears as very closely spaced lines or crosshatching.
Is this normal or is it a graphics/setting problem?

On g-force black out, it's normal on mine.

Compared to the Black out Feature in MS CFS 1 i the very sudden completly black schreen

guess its more realistic the way it is in IL2

any real pilots out there we can ask?...

ah well thats off Topic but is i have the same thing i guess its not a Graphic problem

Normal. You'll get used to it.

Thanks for the reply guys.
A bit of an odd effect (kind of like how much older flight sims handled smoke)
Its not a major problem though.
Just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing a setting or had a bum set of drivers.
Cheers

you've seen the neg-g redout effect, yes?

..that one isn't bad either...

I dunnno how many of you have fainted/passed out/blacked out (maybe from standing up too quickly after laying down) but it definatly doesn't come all at once like oldschool fighter games, you see sparkles of light and dark before it all goes black, and obviously you can't mimic it perfectly on a computer monitor, but I've always thought IL-2's attempt was a good itteration of it. I think red outs just go straight up though, consistant across the screen style.
