Hi all.

I have made a tool for the Logitech G15 keyboard, that will display your score in the keyboard LCD display while you play.

http://mhondoz.net/il2g15/images/thumb_lcd_close.jpg

http://mhondoz.net/il2g15/images/thumb_lcd_far.jpg

More details available here: mhondoz.net/il2g15 (http://mhondoz.net/il2g15)

Enjoy! :-)

Ignore the fools who have no respect for the work you put into this.

I was wondering how long before someone figured out how to utilize that keyboard with this game. Well done!

I have been looking at that keyboard for a while. Have you come up with any good profiles for the extra programmable buttons?

Also, have they improved the wearability of the keys? I heard there was a problem early on with them wearing out prematurly.

Yes, thats right! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But, before I used to check my score by Shift+TAB and calculating hit ratio while flying, often with distastrous results. So I regard this as an improvement for my safety. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

@ PF_Coastie

It exist some other tools for G15 and this game. I have tried one from www.check-six.fr (http://www.check-six.fr) that show information from devicelink.

As for programmable buttons, I have not used them much yet.

I bought my keyboard a few months ago, and have not noticed any problems with the keys.

Not my cup of tea. I don`t fly IL2 to see my score unless it`s the `score` of actually shooting down one enemy plane for the team. Nice, but in my view it focuses on the wrong goal.

I remember people would say to me sometimes, `You`re getting a high score.` and I`d say what? Where? Oh, that. ` Then forget about it.

It`s the obsession with `scores` that turns IL2 into an unenjoyable, shoulder-shooting, kill-stealing airquake.
Not interested.

But the percentage thing is not bad.

From what I heard it was a problem with the first run and has been fixed. But logitech will replace the keyboard for free if you have the problem...

Had mine for 8 months now and no wear yet...

Thanx for doing this Mhondoz...

made a tool for the Logitech G15 keyboard

This program won't work with any other board... say a Saitek by chance??

Mint work on this program though! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Correction... I now see the display on the board after checking it out on the web.

Unfortunately, I do not have that keyboard. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I wonder if the X-52 display on the throttle could show something like that? I really like the bullets fired and hit percentage--that'd be WAY useful.

I can understand this, and I am not a score junkie my self (way too bad pilot for that :-| ). For me personally the hit percentage thing is what I like most. The initial motivation for doing this came when playing coops, and when flying home I had some time to check the console for bullet hits etc., and thought it might be nice to create a tool for this.

Originally posted by Crash_Moses:

I am not sure if it is possible to read the ping from the game log? If it is a command you can print in the console to get the ping, and that makes it to the log, it should be fairly easy to include that.

Yes, this works for coop also. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Some of the code for reading and parsing the log could be used for a tool for other devices as well. But for this I am using the SDK for the G15 for actually printing to the LCD, so it will not work with other devices directly. Unfortunately I do not have a X-52 at the moment...

You can make this file in any text editor, for example notepad, and save it in the game directory with the same name as you used in the rcu file.

I see now I made a typo in the example, it should read timeout 10000 udatestats (if the file is named updatestats).

I wonder if it could be altered to instead show the notification text (rad 6, flap combat, throtle 70%, etc.)......Or chat, or speed bar....All to clear up the screen for play?

Well, this tool is based on what the game writes to the log. So if there is a way to make it log such data it should be easy to do.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, there is another tool for this game using DeviceLink to gather data from the game, that might give you things like you mention about flaps position, and such. But as far as I know, DeviceLink can only be used offline.

If I dowload this I am wondering if this will take away from my situational awareness. Having this "tool" will be a nice feature for sure but I think I will be tempted to look at it far too often http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.
Great work though.

Being a point ***** and keeping track of your kill stats are two different things.

1.point *****:
A person that posts to web forum boards just to achive a point count,or to win contests.

2.point *****:
An individual in an on-line gaming world (usually a first-person shooter) who's main objective is to gain points via any means instead of aiding his/her team to victory, ala such VSF Gamers like MASH and Finaldream.
</sub>

That is a great tool.. and you show me one person who never looks at and doesn't care about his points or cares about his kills in any online venue and I'll show you a guy who can $hit gold bricks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Yes I know, but I need the game to write it to the log to be able to read it from "outside" of the game. Fortunately I can see now that the game will write the ping to the log if you type user into the console. So ping is a possible feature for a future version.

Have you clicked the Start button? The LCD applet is not started until the parser is up and running.

Any messages in the log window? After clicking the Start button, the log should say this if all is ok:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Log opened succesfully
Parser is running.</pre>

One reason why it may fail is if it does not find the log file. Then you may have to start the game first, and then click the Start button.

IL2G15Score has been tested on a "merged install" of IL2/AEP/PF running on Windows XP.

has this been tested for 1946 version of the game? is it compatable. still cant get my name to show on the lcd everything else shows ok tho.

I can see from your screenshot that IL2G15Score does not complain about anything, - and still does not show in the LCD manager... I really don't know what the problem is. My LCD config looks like this:

http://mhondoz.net/il2g15/images/g15config.jpg

Originally posted by sakai2005:

One thing I can think of is that when the parser starts, it skips through the whole log file without actually parsing it. This because if you have LOGKEEP=1 in your ini file the log could be quite large. So the parser will only get the information that is added to the log after you have started it. And this means it will still be at "NoUser" until you start the game, and the log is being updated.

If you are running the game, and it output your score to the log, you should start to get updates on your LCD.

I would suggest setting logkeep=0
no reason to keep it anyway...
with this program updating it rapidly.. after a few nights of flying, my log file was 250mb in size and the program wouldnt even run lol

Hi all,

I have tried to make this progam go but have not been able to make it happen.

The program seems to load ok and it displays on the lcd but i'm getting the "no user" message.

Here is what it reads in the program window.

LCD applet started.
Using logfile: C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/logfile.log
Registred users: Okie, Okie, Okie, Okie
Log opened succesfully
Parser is running.

I bought this keyboard because I wanted something with illuminated keys. I'm very pleased with it. It would be the icing on the cake for me if I could make this program work. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I may just need to wait until it has an easier intsall configuration for bone heads like me. LOL

Thanx Mhondoz for making this program and offering it to the comunity here. I'll keep an eye out for any updates you may make.
