View Full Version : What Keeps Blowing My Ki46's Engines!?

Most of us know not to engage WEP on 109E7Z below 5.5-6km alt and to engage MW50 on late 109s below 50% throttle and to watch the over revving on likes of Ki27 and Gladiator and Blenheim but what the heck is blowing my Ki46s engines every single time!?Today I think it was over revving (650kmh plus at 100% prop pitch ) but other times its something else ...anyone know for sure?

Perhaps you should ask the folks who did that mod?

I've never had engine trouble with one. but then I fly it in it's original flight profile, as a high altitude recon plane.

650 kph. In a dive, right?

If you run a stock 109 using manual prop pitch then you can overrev before getting your gear up on takeoff, without WEP, just by not coarsening the prop (lowering the pitch IIRC, been a long time since I ran a 109 on manual PP) as speed increases.

IL2 also has planes where prop overspeed happens in dives. Crank the RPMs back, reduce engine if it has CSP or auto-prop.

Also Aurens, did you say mod? IBTL!

Yeah, what ElAurens said: Go ask somewhere else.
