OH well, Patrol 26 and I got attacked by two Sunderlands and two V & W destroyers up in the Irish Sea.
The Planes made me go to periscope depth but a DC damaged me quite bad and the DD's finished me off.
ALL hands lost !

U-48 was a good boat a Type VIIC.
The crew were all good men and had helped me to sink 135 Ships at 630,945 tons all told from the very start of the war.

I might continue with the U-boat to the end of the war but it wont be the same now sob sob http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

You play way more honestly than me, if I get killed I reload simple as that. Its takes me hours to complete each patrol as is, if I restarted everytime I got killed I'd never see the end of the war nor some of the cool late war U-Boats.!

Yeah, I just reload. I find it kind of difficult to get attached to creepy-looking NPC's.

I feel your pain!
lost my U-108 last night late 43' had lots of tonnage and the best rated crew!
of S. America sec EE after wuppin up on a connvy w/ only one escort! had 70k+ tonage and just needed to finish my patrol - that sector was loaded w/ air and surface patrols! - had to spend day under and even at night - got atacked by about 3/4 b-24's! and one hit took out the whole show! oh well it was a good run....

I have a couple of game profiles going. One is on easy for reloading and exploring the game.

The other is on "full realism" and if I lose that crew, so be it.

I would like to see this game have a hall of fame feature, so that when playing for keeps, I could see how each of my captains fared.

I had a fun experience on my last patrol which very nearly cost me my boat. I got ambushed by a lone destroyer. During a depth charge run one exploded almost directly under my rear torpedo room. Wow -- I am now in really big trouble. I have critical flooding in two compartments, so I have to keep shuffling my damage control team from one compartment to the other to keep my sub from sinking. At the same time, my sub is pointed at a crazy angle, cause my stern diving planes had been shot off. I'm also missing a propeller. Very fortunately for me, the surface was very foggy and stormy, so the DD lost contact pretty quickly and was never able to get it back. I finally got the flooding under control, but had one hell of a time getting the sub back up to the surface without any stern planes. I eventually just gave up and blew the tanks.

Hehe, I feel your pain RedTerex.

I play in the same manner, once my boat and crew are lost, well they're lost for good, period. I go back and start a new career from scratch.

A pain? Perhaps, but it gives my crew and boat much more meaning and as a result - I choose my battles wisely.

thank you for your understanding at this difficult time, for the intrudence into your post...but I wanted it to be said more personal..glad I'm not alone on this issue

It's mid 40 for me, 8 patrols, and in the mid-300s for tonnage. I play like you, also - when I die- that's it for me.

I've been taking risks lately though. I know it'll get tougher eventually, but I've been probing what the AI can do.

I hope that when I finally have a rough experience, that I'll survive- then I'll be more careful. Man, I am gonna be sad if I get killed, but when I start over I'll give the TypeII a chance, with some good experience under my belt.

The ASW Dep't is rockin and rollin at the ole Brit admiralty at about Jan 1942, and happy time would now be at an end and the reign and superiority of the Uboat sadly in decline.
If you make it 1943 from 1939 my hats off to you Sir !

Started a new career for fun. Going to take the Type 2D as far as she can go thru the war this time.

(Probably didn't help that I'm not sitting at scapa flow with no enemy ships in harbor on my first patrol in the Type 2 A though, hopefully I'll make it back out.)

Makes you wish that they gave you two smaller damage control teams since in real life you wouldn't just work on one flooding area but all of them at the same time.
