Very interesting--especially because I was wondering where the "precise targetting" had gone for a lot of the ships.

But I'm a little confused at all the options--I should pick 'Torpedo targetting repaired' if I don't want to change the strength of the torpedoes, but do want to be able to have the 'autoaim' function on internal compartments?

SH3 1.4d

Yes, the Torpedo targeting repaired

Interesting Fong!

Can you tell me how to install manually? I don't use JSGME.

Thanks!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I hope this does not change the other things in GWX as a result of replacing the files. Just my thoughts on it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The last thing I heard as the British boarded my boat, "Boot hoch halten sonst wird keiner gerettet!"....Keep the boat afloat or no one will be rescued! My war was over....

That sounds more like MY game.
But please where can I download GWX in one go, my PC won't let me use gameshadow for some weird reason and being a computer dummy who has still not been able to run a Career with any mods I want to try GWX.
Thanks<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks My best advise would be to check the GWX site.
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/ (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/GWX/)

The easiest way is to download all the parts into the same directory then run GWX.exe to build the mod into your Silent Hunter III directory.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I've got no idea what this means. What about expanding on just exactly WHAT is "The damage model from ..."?

I gave this a whirl...specifically, the "GWX Torpedo Targetting Repaired"--and found that it didn't do what I hoped it would have.

What I mean is, I was once again confronted by a "Large Cargo", a new GWX ship, and could not specifically target the fuel bunkers or the engine in auto-aim under 1000 meters.

Does anyone have any ideas? Truth be told, I was very unclear on this from the start--is that not the purpose of the mod, or have I simply installed the wrong version?

odd thing is that that particular ship was one of the ones under special surveillance for producing this mod, but

Given my further experiments into this general issue . . .

I believe you.

Had one ship target properly, then on reload it targets somewhere else entirely.

Even found other very odd things, too many to detail about the behavior of GWX and critical ship locations.

Real fun happens when you take the Commerce Raider, the same ship model you are talking about . . . every zone works properly on it, but the actually filled ammo bunkers in the Large Cargo refuse to target.

The actual causes of problems in some ships was tracked to non-printing characters in the Zones file. Others to missing attributes, still others to deliberate, but excessively inconsistent removal of the "critical" value.

In short, more ways to bugger up torpedo targeting were introduced in GWX than any sane programmer can contemplate. And none of them were consistent across all ships or any ship models.

P.S. evidence of some problems being introduced in the actual ship definition files.
(Additional information ommitted for sanity.)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Ah...okay...I understand? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I suppose the complexity of new vehicles makes this difficult. I'm going to try GW1.1 targetting, and see that's any more successful, as well as increasing torpedo destructive power.

Note: not only are ships structually stronger in GWX, but torpedoes are weaker--both, remember, both are true. The original lower end of torpedo strength was around 140 in SH3, while it's around 110 in GWX. Just worth noting, I suppose.
