That's the only thing that's worrying me at the moment...everything else looks quite solid and a lot of fun! Thx for the review http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How do you review an unreleased game?

stix489
10-30-2007, 11:13 PM
Well it's probably a preview not a review anyway I guess.

DrBo
10-30-2007, 11:20 PM
No, it's a review.

Well then I have no idea...The game is finished so they might have played the whole final build! But I doubt it.

Lisky831
10-30-2007, 11:33 PM
I dont think they would of played the whole game.

AKA, not a review.

stix489
10-30-2007, 11:42 PM
Well it doesn't really matter how they got to the conclusions...all that matters is that it got pretty good scores, so we know to expect something great on the 15th!! Oh and it arrives on the 15th right...so we will be able to play it on that same day?

rahul911
10-31-2007, 12:01 AM
37 out of 40 is a great score, hope to see more like these.
BTW, AC had a combat with a single button, cant believe I didnt know about it

Legolas00198
10-31-2007, 12:04 AM
The only REAL thing thats putting me off is the combat, BUT timing is involved and I've heards its fun, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

games get reviews before release all the time. like guitar hero 3 was reviewed in game informer magazine 2 months ago. and if thats Famitsu (or something like that) magazine, they ALWAYS get games early to review. they already reviewed Mario Galaxy and i remember a month before Snake Eater was released they reviewed that as well. not to mention the fact that you dont give a score on a preview. duh.

Well my katakana, hiragana and romaji is superb my kanji is not so good....in the case of that article I would be mostly useless...since it uses kanji too.

NO!!! The game HASN'T been released yet, so how could it be a review!?

But you are right there, you don't give a rating on a preview, it must just be how the japanese do their previews.

True. For example, Game Informer already reviewed Mass Effect.

Well tough, it isn't. Live with it lol.

@Lisky: Game reviewers usually get a game earlier than... us. So they can review it. It'll be about a week more before Gamespot and IGN will be doing there own. Yay!

37/40 = quite uber spectacular, don't you say?

Annoying camera angles are a bit annoying, but I'm sure I'll live. As long as I can see myself PWNing guards. Then I'm good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hehe you sure don't know much about how this work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Most of the reviewers got a speciel xbox (Don't know about the PS3) that can read debug-versions of games. They often get the game before its even gone gold just to try it out.
When the game has gone gold they'll be the first ones to get the game... even before it's released to the publish.
I'm pretty sure it's a real review from Famitsu 360. They've just been alot faster then the other "review-magasins" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

(and sorry for my bad english http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

I had better get used to them again! *fires up Sands of Time*

One-button combat is somewhat unsatisfying, but will make the game accessible to more people.

So shame for Ubisoft.

Maybe this is the reason I will not buy AC. The fight for children.

Multiple button combat equals button mashing; one button requires some skill, good timing for example.

The only problem I have is what it says about 1 button combat. It isn't 1 button combat. In combat you can use the B (open hand) button to counter grab or throw and use the A button (Legs) to dodge or stomp.

Yeah... shame ubi, one person won't buy your game. Now you're going into liquidation and will have to sell off all your assets to blubbering idiots.

If only you had appealed to one more person, then maybe your employees wouldn't be eating their own dead by now.

So shame UBI... >_<

Famitsu usually gets their reviews out much quicker then everyone else.

37/40 is a GREAT score though.

Hey...that's what I got on my last math test.

I think it probably depends on the developers. If they're confident......then I assume the game will be reviewed before release. Or, much like movies, if they're concerned or a little unsure of how good it is....they might want to send final version after the release date. Who knows?

But, we all know that games do get reviewed before release dates and after as well. And the score it got....is pretty damn good, if you ask me. 37 out of 40 is very impressive. That's like an .850 batting average so far, I think.

Protip: Game journalists are sent "Review copies" of games before they're out on the streets. Y'know, which makes complete sense. Some people judge whether or not to buy a game based on the reviews and having reviews before the game is out is very good. How is a print media outlet supposed to compete with an online outlet if a game comes out in November and they didn't get a copy of it in October? (Which is when they'd be working on the November issue)

Usually when gaming magazines DON'T get review builds of games prior to release the game winds up being ****.

Hi everyone.

I just had to make an account to let you all in on a little secret.

I review games for a webiste called play.tm and the way it works is that when you hear about a game going 'Gold' the publisher will send out a load of copies of said game to reviewers to write their opinion on. The term 'Gone Gold' means the game is totally finished and has gone to print, so yes people can write proper reviews even before the game is out in the shops.
Less often you will receive a pre-release build that is so near to completion that the publisher beleives a decent review can be given about the game before its hit the 'Gold' status.

Well, I hope that has helped you all, now you should be able to trust reviews you see about games before they have been released.

I have played this for 2 days now and am quite disappointed.

The gameplay is painfully repetetive, although beautiful.

If good graphics and fluid animation were all that were needed to make a game good, then this would get 5 stars. I have quickly gotten tired of saving the citizens and climbing to viewpoints to find said citizens or pickpockets or whatever. Every level is pretty much the same and makes the gameplay very boring.
