Like I have said before Putin scares the poo outta me. He's smart, and calculating, not to mention his background http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

He's no fluffy bunny.

I gotta agree with you guys. Putin likely won't give up the power he has without a fight.

Dead right. Bearing in mind his background in the KGB I'll bet he is the only leader of a major power who has actually killed someone. If he has that must bring a certain gravitas to the negotiating table http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif.

Many US Presidents have served in the armed forces and saw active combat. Bush the elder, for one, was a USN Avenger pilot and was shot down over Chichi Jima. It's likely he killed a few Japanese long before he barfed in their laps.

He was also Director of the CIA for a couple of years (76-77).

a real election will take place

& someone who isnt the current leader will take up the position

Putin may be corrupt , but hes doing what has never been done in Russia before

as far as im concerned, its russias buisness.

as far as i can tell he has the support of the majority, and if the russian people want the way their leaders are selected changed, the russian people will change it themselves. they have done it before and they'll do it again.

Normally I would agree with your sentiment fully, but the leadership of any country with nuclear weapons is a matter of international concern.

Russia is still in the experimental phase of democracy, and Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, the Russian people will find a way to make it work peacefully for them and their neighbors.

all we can offer is moral support. anything more is counter productive and will be quite rightfully resented with untold results.
