View Full Version : Controller ID's

Found a MadCatZ rudder controller at my local op-shop. After a bit of rewiring and adding in a control board from a old Rockteer joystick I now have a set of USB pedals for $2... Not bad.
But having problems configuring them with PF. I've been trying to get them to identify themselves as ID2 (Windows XP home) so that all my settings for my main controller (Saitek X52) stay where they are in the PF control settings, ie as ID1. I've tried plugging and plugging in in different orders, and have gone to control panel set the X52 as the preferred device to use with older programs, but still they remain on top of the control panel game controllers list and when I go to the PF controls HOTAS screen the X52 is ID2.
Anyone have any ideas how to force the controller ID's?

If that old joystick is for gameport then you cant change the ID. It will allways be ID1. If its for USB then you can change it.

Click the "Joysticks..." link under my signature picture and look for the "I added a 2nd controller ...." section of the article it takes you to.

Thanks for your all your input.
Tried the ID changing utility, but no joy, my saitek is still under ID2 in the PF control panel, even when the JoyID prog has it as ID1.
Tully thanks for your link, I'd already looked through your article, very useful, but I wanted to see if I could just change ID's rather than reprogram all my joystick button settings. (I don't use the saitek drivers with the keymapping). Looks like I'm gonna have to now... Something in the Rocketeer circuit must be forcing it to ID1.
Thanks again all.

I'd love to use the Saitek drivers, 'cept they always crash my system when I try to install... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I'd recommend you go to Saitek's forums (http://www.saitekforum.com/), register and describe your problem in the Software & Drivers forum. Include which windows version you're using, your PC spec and Saitek software version in your post there.

I have the same problem. I have a Logitech Momo Racing Force wheel, which INSISTS on being #1 to my Saitek FF Cyborg, despite my best efforts (all of the above). It seems that nobody has a solution for this kind of problem. I have been asking around for one for a while, on multiple forums, but no joy.

I then get the joy of watching the wheel wiggle itself across the table as I pull the trigger on my floppy (no centering force) joystick. Try to avoid reading the previous sentence in any other way than it was intended. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
