Colision damage model is totally insane

these 2 screenshot say that a 1939 polish fighter is stronger then the massive Russian Lagg 3
ok maybe the russian called it a flying coffin but it is still incredibly strong

in the game Lagg3 can take massive ground/mg fire and cannon rounds and still fly decent
but if it hits plywood like the P11 it gets destroyed
whats up with this ?

should i post this in the ORR
( i read historical documents on some site that proof that this is a real bug )

Your on to something here. Not right at all that damage model. I actually interviewed a former LAGG pilot who assured me that they never actually shot anything in the LAGG, they just rammed because they knew she could handle it.

see ! , thank you for the info

Please spare us, is this a whiner joke? Ramming one aircraft head-on into another aircraft is catastrophic, neither plane will be able to fly away from the collision.

in the example i posted they both chrashed , but this is not always the case in head on collisions in fb

seem the damage detection on that part is bit off or undermodelled as they say here..

That's because of LAG and the fact that there is no prediction code in the IL2 Netcode. On your computer you crash but on his you don't and thus you die and he flies along perfectly fine.

Just yesterday I dove underneath someone and then went straight... pulled up a little... of course I passed him but then after i looked back to look at the enemy i just shot up a bit I blew up hehe, apparently we collided when i dove underneath him... the force was strong with that room /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

First - when the real pilots would RAM - it did do some damge to their planes and second they did not do any head on ramming.

It might not go down in a ball of flames - but a headon between 2 planes flying at say 140mph each would make for one hell of an impact - sure to jar both pilots teeth from their sockets

Think you got it backwards there son, the P-11c was an all metal plane, that kite you were in is the wooden wonder weapon, AKA 'cardboard'.

umm

HELLO?

need i remind you that that 'plywood' p.11 has a 100 pount STEEL CARBIDE engine behind the prop, wich is about the size of 2 computer monitors, that is flying into that lagg at about a relative speed of ... oh .. .. .. . .let's say ... probably around 500 KPH

..... that's not a bug /i/smilies/16x16_robot-tongue.gif

i REALLY hope this forum is a joke..

they need to do something about the ramming bug, especially when your on an enemies 6 and a teamate gets greedy and moves in and explodes on you "friendly aircraft destroyed" -400.

But let them figure it out they dont listen to us.

some planes still have the old wooden dm, but hey, why are you crashing into someone when a few bullets in the cockpit are all you need?

Plywood? P.11c was a FULL metal plane. It had also a full steel structure. Don't get mistaken by its obsolescent appearance. It was a real modern plane by 1936.

No plane could stand a head-on collision, even if it was against a bag of feathers. Ramming attacks were always tangent and from shallow angles (from behind or above), and I simply cannot believe that guy claiming happy rams, because it was a very delicate question just done by accident or in desperate circumstances. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

In fact, the full metal structure could easily stand ramming attacks from (this time, yes!) wooden structure wings like that of many production Soviet aircraft.

There was only one aircraft who could stand easily that kind of attacks: a Northrop flying wing prototype developed in the late stages of war, after VE-day. This titanium revested strange machine was designed to attack this way! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Online head-on collisions happen a lot, and most of the times other plane walks away from the crash perfectly OK, while the other looses a wing.... now this I hate.. or sometimes you collide into someone's six, you loose a wing, and the other A/C walks away fine. Perhaps it is lag, but collisions should indeed be fixxed /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif So that other partner won't survive high speed collidings..

This has always been common in IL2/FB. Just a week ago a Dora cut my Yak3 in half on HL, and flew away unharmed.
