I can't stand it. Oleg porked the La7 in 4.01. I always knew Oleg hated Soviet aircraft. First the Yak3, then the LaGG, and now the La7. Oleg's blatant anti-Soviet bias made me lose every bit of respect for this sim. I'm going to go back to my Su-33 in LOMAC.

Actually, no.

This was taken immediately after Nate, me, and our Sherpa dug it out of the lake. Note the slight structural rust.

After 2 weeks. Nate's garage is quite huge. We painted it French because we lost a bet.

You are right...but usually the speed is fairly low to begin with when doing that and now that FW190s can actually retain energy...it doesn't matter as much http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They can go and turn in circles at 300kph http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm not sure but I suspect the La-7, although maybe not quite as capable as suggested, is closer and closer to its real life equivalent. It was a bloody light plane with a solid construction and a powerful engine. So its power to weight is probably best in its class...no wonder when you program a FM for it...the thing can do wonderous things.

Still..its more of a handful than before which is good.

Yes! I sometimes wonder how these TnB machines are doing the moves they do, but when you think about it, they're extremely light planes strapped onto a very powerful engine, like you said. However I still think that energy retention of a lot of planes is just off -- especially the ones that favor TnB tactics. I really don't think it's biased, possibly just game engine limitations.

Yes Oleg love the LW aircrafts so much that he made the effort to attach the most sophisticaded damageprofiles in them.
The engine of the Me-109 family is made of armour countless hits in the engine and no sign of damage, like one hit with a 7.9 makes the windshield smeared with oil.

The Fw 190 family got kevlar vings, it can several hits and it dont inflict the much, like one hit slows it 50 km/h.
The sniperaccuracy of the guns, so good that I got twice the hit-ratio with F4F4 compared with the FW-190.
I concider axis-planes as underdog aircrafts.

Porked I don't know about, but what's the general opinion on slat-equipped aircraft and their stall characteristics in v.4.01? I've found out that f.e. the La-7 is pretty hard to speed-stall, even with very large AoAs / elevator deflection.

msalama! Check this:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63110913/m/1001015133/p/1

To sum up: since 4.xx planes with slats can be flown without accelerated stalls, i.e you can do 1/4 roll and pull stick to maximum deflection and with little effort to control roll keep turning that way from 400 kmh to 200-kmh. Obviously new FM's bug.

Almost:

1000 PS = 986.32 hp

M-71 was two M-63 engines put together. M-63 was built under licence Wright R-1820. Kinda similar story to...Wright R-3350, including huge teething problems, overcome in US, in Soviet Union- NOT. What a coincidense http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks Kocur! I've read that thread before, but I didn't really check the thing myself until now because I've flown mostly Cobras in v.4.01. But yep, it's definitely a bug, because as helpful as slats are they plainly CANNOT prevent accelerated stalls completely...

Yeah, they can be SO like that!
