TRAKS recorded with labels ON.

Can these labels be turned off via CONFIG.INI or some other 'magic button' to view WITHOUT the labels ?
[asked in tech forum but maybe not as many view that area as no replies...]

Just switch "Inflight Messages" to the off (Down) position from the track menu, and that will remove all the on-screen text when you play back your tack file. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Edit: Not sure about aircraft labels if thats what you ment http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Or do you mean the "icons" that float above the planes?

Aircraft labels won't be affected by the "Inflight Messages" switch.

In .trk (offline only) tracks the icons can be removed with the help of a small utility named IconBasher. I don't know who the author is and where I downloaded it, but I found it on my HD and have uploaded it here (http://1rl.de/sim/IconBasher.zip), I hope that's alright.

It doesnt work with ntrk (mainly online) tracks, though.

The ones right next to the A/C... RED/BLUE etc.
Sorry for the confusion...

yes but you ned to set a button for it in the control menu! Think its called "icon type" quite far down in the menu... Then you can switch between diffrent icons or none at all!

Another way to do it is under "difficulty" just before a mission. Set "icons" to OFF!

Good luck!

Were you trying to edit .trk ot .ntrk tracks?

The definitive "no" is not correct as far as .trk is concerned.

Actually it was a recent NTRK.
Do remember "TRKs" but way back when IL2 first came out. Thought they were long forgotten and replaced with "NTRKs"
Also noted suggestion from 'PLUMPS' [OH...THAT'S YOU !!]http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)... of a program called Iconbasher which I grabbed but didn't seem to work...
Changed the extention of the NRTK to TRK and 'ran' it...Surprisingly the TRK 'ran' OK but the IconBuster still didn't want to remove the "AIRCRAFT LABELS" [next to the plane]... so I renamed it back to its original 'TRK' extention.
Willing to go that extra mile if there is some "magic button" somewhere....

.trk and .ntrk are completely different formats and there's no point in changing the file extension. .ntrks are encrypted and contain much more information than .trks.

You can open and read .trks in a text editor, that's why IconBasher works there.

But if you've started with a .ntrk there's no way to remove the labels.
