Just last week i splashed out and buought a new motherboard (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) with a awesome onboard sound card which made my sound blaster live 5.1 redundent...

since then i have had NO explossions in the P40!! i have stressed this thing as much as possible, putting throttle and prop pitch to maximum while doing a 90 degree dive... missions in which i would blow up as soon as i took off autopilot i now blow up only after a 109 jumps my tail /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
whenever i pull high revs in the P40 the engine sound cuts out.... could this be the source of other peoples problems??

surely this warrents some more investigation? if people could post if they experiencing this bug and say what type of sound card they are using we might be able to find an interem soloution till the patch comes out...

my system is as follows

Athlon 1800XP @ 2Ghz @ 400mhz fsb
512mb ddr 333 @ 400
Asus A7N8X Deluxe with onboard Nforce sound card
Geforce 4MX 440

Haven't you heard that Oleg has fixed this problem? Do you suppose that he might know what the problem was?

Regards,
Mike

I think the problem about this bug is the fact, that it isn't repeatable.

I just tested the P40(E&M) with the "prop pitch"-tip, but it worked only 3 of 5 times.

It works when you cut the throttle, it works when you play around with the prop-pitch, sometimes it just works in normal flight with full throttle.

I did all these testings in FR and I flew over 50 QMB-missions, diving from 5000m in 90?.

The fasted I got was 850kph, then I pulled up and lost my aft control surfaces. =/

When I repeated the same mission, it simply exploded on 520kph without any warning.

I don't think it has something to do with your sound settings or sound performance of your machine.

please try it.... i can't fly to save my life... before i got this upgrade i used to blow up in the P-40 in a shallow dive (the 2nd P40 single mission, just before you come across the 109's...
with a bit of struggling with the prop pitch i could survive for a bit longer..

now all i do is leave prop pitch and throttle at 100% with the only consequence being an overheated engine!

my theory would explain why some people seem to have this problem and others don't......... It has to be hardware related

all i'm asking is that ppl give it a try

Try Negative G - Blows up!
Try Positive G - Doesn't blow up!

Right. The problem has been studied in great depth and reduntantly by quite a number of people. Others have taken hardware into consideration.

My point is that it doesn't matter anymore. Soon enough the patch will make the point moot, so why push it?

Yes, with negative G, it always blows up. The E-Version handels this a bit better, but what does that matter - you explode, anyway /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I really hope for that Patch to come out soon - but I think we'll have to wait until the end of July to find out /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

i tested out that theory...

diving while pulling back gently on the stick i mananged to reach a terminal speed of 870ks..

diving while pushing on the stick i managed to get the P40 up to 930km/h!!!

the tracks are here...
