I recently installed Il-2 Forgotten Battles. I have a couple of basic, and perhaps silly, questions:

1. Is there some sort of manual or readme which provides general information about the game?

2. Is there an equivalent to quick combat missions?

Thanks for any help.

There should be a .pdf manual in the game folder. As for quick combat, there is a quick mission builder where you can select your plane or a squad of planes on your side, enemy planes of all types, a few different maps and objectives if you like. Great for practice, by yourself or with enemies.

Read the A Nugget's Guide To Getting Off The Ground.. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645)

I found a readme but it doesn't contain any information about basic gameplay, [C/ProgramFiles/Ubisoft/Il-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles/Readme], just some technical information.

Is there something more somewhere?

If it isn't in your game folder try downloading Aircraft Guide.pdf,Controls.pdf,and the Manual.pdf from here:

Although, I'm not positive the manuals at mission4today are only for the 1946 version, you should definitely find the manual.pdf file in the main FB folder. That's the game manual.

There is also a .pdf showing default keyboard assignments for controls as well, IIRC. It's been a long time since I had a Forgotten Battles installation, so it may be in a later version of the game only.

I only glanced at it, but I'm fairly sure that the game manual that comes with '46 is the same as the one that came with the Pacific Fighters version of the game. The aircraft guide probably contains more aircraft though.

Definitely more aircraft in the guide, but there are many different features between FB and 1946. As you know, FB was even before PF, so many of the features in 1946 were not even thought of (or needed) yet back in FB. Not arguing, just clarifying my intial statement, so he doesn't try activating features that are not in his version of the game. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Of course, I haven't seen an FB manual in quite some time and the last time I opened a 1946 manual was...well, I can't even remember, lol.

You aren't alone when it comes to not opening the manual in a while! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I just checked the one that I have for '46 and it says Pacific Fighters on page 3.

Thanks. I found it on Disk 2 of the Il-2 FB CDs. Now to print it and read it.

Get 46 as soon as you can.... it is a much better example of what is possible with this sim.FB is alomost like a demo so muh has been added since then... and don't even start talking about 3rd party stuff.
