still wont get the dorsal fin i bet

even "near 47M" performance wont count for anything when the R-2800 Insta-stop(TM) packs it up at the mere slight of a 303 round

after that prop stops and im gliding as gracefully as a 12 ton brick can, i cant enjoy a smoke with no ashtray

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

ok, ok, i WILL be happy to get it, dorsal fin, and ashtray or not

but please gimme a realistic DM for the mill, and while were at it, a paddle prop for the D22

oh, and that bombload thingy

oh, oh, oh, and IBTL

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for flying military P-47 flight 'Darkfold.' Today's flight is non-stop service from London to Berlin and return. Please notice that the emergency exit is the big plexiglass canopy above your head which will slide back and away in the event we must quickly exit the aircraft. We'll be reaching our cruising altitude of 30,000 feet in just a few minutes; at that time the captain will extinguish the seat-belt lamp and you may move freely about the cockpit. Until then we request that you do not use any electronic equipment including PDAs, cell phones, cameras, personal computers or gameboys as it may interfere with navigation equipment.

"Ladies and gentlemen, aircraft number 512845 has just reached cruising altitude and our captain has performed his gun check. Please feel free to move about the cockpit. Complimentary beverage service will be coming through; for your pleasure we offer coffee, teas, cola and juice as well as mixed nuts or pretzels. If you look up to your right you will notice a large formation of American bombers -- please wave at them! Below and to your left you can see Paris, home of the famous Eifel Tower. And it appears our captain has scored a kill on a German Focke-Wulf fighter! Good Job! As we return to formation, we will begin showing our in-flight movie, "Gone With The Wind" starring Clark Gable. Mr. Gable is now employed by this airline, you know.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please don't be alarmed, we are experiencing a little turbulence caused by inhospitable Flak-88s on the ground. Your flight attendents will be coming through the aisles with the snack cart momentarily and will be offering chipwich ice cream sandwiches. Additionally, if you should need a pillow or blanket, please feel free to ask your attendant.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are approaching our final destination of Boxted Air Base. Please secure your lap belts and return your trays and seats to their upright positions. Your flight attendants will be coming through one last time to collect garbage and ensure safety precautions are being met as we prepare for for our final approach. The local time is 15:07. If you need assistance meeting your next flight, please see the sergeant in the operations hut. Have a great day, and as always, thank you for choosing military P-47 flight 'Darkfold' for your air travel needs."

yea, i remember the throngs all in p 38s when it came out...that soon died out...same as the smaller, but similar rush on 38 Lates...again, dont see as much anymore

i think when ppl find the new 47 still doesnt have the turn, climb, and wonder gunnery that spits, Las, and yaks have, they will slink back to turnin n burnin on the deck, pretending to be either farmers or sailors

5k rate of climb at 150 mph up to about 10k. Then about 4k rate of climb up to around 30k....give or take some. No engine overheat during that climb at full power, cowl flaps closed. 560 (inconclusive) dive with good control and low buffet to 50 feet AGL then a vertival climb to 10k at 110 mph at the top. And so far, no skin folder for custom skins.

But thats just the beta....and I will probably get banned for that information http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I'm hoping to see a P-47 that can really stand up to Focke Wulfs at mid and low alt. it definitely won't turn into a T and B fighter but I think it'll definitely make the 47 competative and maybe give it a shot at some action in online servers. The same Spit v FW&ME scenarios are getting kind of played out.

It will still be a 7 ton beast and can't generate its full HP until the last stage unless they've changed that too. I'd rather have the exsisting D27 with a correct DM and improved FM. Before the last patch it was a great plane to fly.

S!

Cant help but think that utilizing the actual P47M flight model for the new P47-Late would of been much cleaner approach for several reasons:

1. Clean flight model with definable HP/V-Max Speed/Climb ratings(P47M-F/M)
2. No ambiguous Speed/HP/Climb ratings for 150 rated fuel--what are they ?
3. No claims of "fantasy plane"
4. No intermixing of P47D-27 & P47(150 Fuel) flight model parameters.
5. Have a true high altitude performance advantage (trust me it's not there now)

Such "claims" will be no more than whines, and a total joke. Both the "M" and "D" versions running at high boost saw combat.

I actually think chosing the boosted D was better than going with the M model in terms of complaining. P47Ds using 150 octane were probably used in decent numbers. Only 130 Ms were produced and they were used primarily to knock down V1s.

As far as I know the "M" never saw action in the "V1 hunter" role. It was introduced in early 45 and saw action in the escort role used exclusively by the 56th FG.
By the way, if this is a matter of numbers I think that it saw action in greater numbers than the Ta152 (and I have nothing against the Ta152).

Start a thread on the tank DM's already.
Oh no, nothing could be wrong with the tanks! It must be the guns!

================================================== ===================================

So we finally get the Russian all-attitudes coffee machine that Seversky brought with him?

Good job! That's the real reason the P-47 was so big, for the coffee machine that works
even upside down and in high-G turns. If it wasn't for shortages in Russia, those planes
would have had them too. And you don't get coffe like that in any Mustang, LOL!

You're absolutely right. I misspoke. They were designed for it but didn't get into service until most of the V1 sites were overrun. I don't know if numbers are what starts the moaning and groaning but I think the juiced up 47D has a way better chance of finding its way into full real online servers than the 47M.

S!,
Currently, the p47d27 and the TA152 are very much on equal terms in regards to performance when flown at high altitudes (8km+). There are some very good P47 pilots on WC being chased by very good TA pilots at those altitudes and higher. Neither plane/pilot is able to gain the upper hand if both of those planes are flown properly. The deciding factor are the guns if one pilot is actually able to get a good snap shot. The p47s guns will usually damage the TA to the point of disengaging and running for friendly lines. The TA's mk108 will usually ruin the p47's day if it connects.

we might be expected too much from high alt planes, a p47 suddenly doesnt turn into a spitfire or 109g2(at low alt..) apon reaching 8k http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

there just less worse than anything else, yaks are **** crappy up high for example...

at least that is what i saw in v3.04 , i havent flowen much of either in v4.01

Actually, I believe the P-47M was intended to counter the jets. The 56th (operating the M) was given the T48 jet ammo (higher velocity -3400fps- requiring re-alligning the guns, and hotter incindiary) in April, '45 to complete that mission . . . better late than never. Hey, the jets couldn't turn anyway . . . right?

The jets didn't have to fear P47m's too much, from what people have said about them they where not reliable at all.
