Probably the first PC based flight sim game i owned. I used to love it and wouldn't mind having another go for nostalgic reasons. The squadron encounter quick mission was my favorite.

I dont have a copy anymore but if i can find one for sale on fleabay or alsewhere online i may buy it!

I know it's designed to run on win95/98 but does anyone here know if it will run on XP?

earlier flight sims i had were spitfire 40 on the speccy. i loved that too but i'm sure if i booted that up now i would be horrified at how pants it is. Ace of Aces, mosquito sim also for the spectrum. loved this too i remember being blown away by the fact you could look out of the side windows over the wings! I had the terminally dull zx spectrum flight simulator which was so lifelike it was impossible to land. I also remember a dam busters type sim on the speccy which was ok.

I wonder if it might be possible to get it to run with compatibility mode?

I remember Flying Corps, I had a lot of fun with that sim.

anyone remember Micropose's Dogfight?
That was serious fun what with WW1, WW2, Korea etc.. bearing in mind that you could go toe to toe with an F16 in a DR1 or Spit or F86, can you just imagine that happening now with all the debates about FM or DM or even over/undermodelling http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
Also KoTS was my first foray into multiplayer simming, with a friend on our Amigas (those were the days)

Yes, I managed to get Flying Corps running under XP Pro using Win95 compatibility mode. I do not have Flying Corps Gold, but the original release.

Flying corp Gold! How glorious were days of our youth, How I remember the creaking of the rigging as the wind whissled around the highly detailed 3D model of my SE5a. The Extensive research, meticulous modelling and advanced programming techniques that brought the flying of those aircraft to new heights of realism and controllability. Ah the astounding 3D high reolution landscapes and 16 bit colour!

Sometimes things are best left to memory! Not long ago on a whim I revisited FCG! The art of creating Combat Flight Sims has advanced alot scince 1997!!!

My first was B-17 Bomber on the Intellivision in, say, 1983. My other favourite was Aces of the Pacific running on a 486 DX2 66 PC. Apart from IL-2, the one that really stuck in mind for longevity was Red Baron 2 3D for its awesome solo campaign with ever-changing environment.

Needless to say that CFS3 sucked eggs.

The aces series I do remember rather fondly. the same thing goes for 1942 Pacific Airwar and afcourse the original Red Baron.
