Hi gents, this my compilation of online air victories acchieved on UK Dedicated servers over a year flying there. Mustang is a bit tough bird to fly, but once you get the hang of it there is no going back. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A couple of notes concerning the recording:

I had to cut (re-record) dogfight parts out of over hour long tracks for easier filming.

When you re-record the track K-14 gunsight (only one track features it because it was short when I recorded it online) and bullet holles on enemy planes are not visible anymore.

Also a note on the radiators - they are always shown as open whenever you record something online. (.ntrk)

Get the video here:

MUSTANG (http://files.filefront.com/MUSTANG+finalrar/;8937958;/fileinfo.html)

- posted under movie maker's forum section too.

Like already said elsewhere, great video, Thor.

If you guys don't watch it you miss something good.

Nice video. Lots of shooting and flying skill on display there.

I wouldn't say you made it look easy though. Not through any failing of your own, but just because of the plane and the guns being used, and the online pressure-cooker environment, I found myself tensing up with just about every shot/engagement.

In terms of the video itself, I found it a bit hard to follow the action in some of the wider shots but overall it was pretty clear what was happening.

The most memorable shot for me was the one at 10:20, looking back from in front of the enemy plane, where you seemed to just hang there forever before shooting.

All in all a good example of what can (and can't) be done with the notorious 50 cals and one of the more demanding planes we have to choose from. Maybe it should be made an essential reference piece for viewing by those who engage in discussions about the effectiveness and ineffectiveness of such things.

Anyway, good work all round. Thanks for sharing it.

Les.

Thanks. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It isn't easy, but it isn't that hard as people say. .50 cals are very effective and satisfying weapon to fight with. Once I learned how to fly it well, my overall flying in all planes improved. It takes discipline and concentration, but Mustang holds a couple of surprises too in her sleave.

I just looked at the video - 10:20? Thats the shot where I show "Susy" infront of a cloud. Few seconds later I knock out 109s engine in high speed headon. Can you be more specific?

At 10:20 on the video I'm watching there's a page-flip transition accompanied by a change of song. The page-flip reveals a front on shot(camera angle) of a Bf-109, with you approaching it from behind. It looks like you're waiting for proper convergence or something before firing, then when you do fire you flame the Bf-109 and tear it's tail off. This is followed by a couple of shots of the Bf-109 falling from the sky. I just like the way the first shot is almost perfectly synchronized with the music and shows well the devastating effects of a properly executed bounce. It looks like the other pilot didn't even know you were there.

Anyway, thanks again for the video.

Les.

That sounds more like 9:20 to me, will check when I'm back home. But anyway, yeah that was deliberate. I timed music with videos a couple of times (2nd song - first 2 109 crashes - drums, lyrics in 3rd and another one from 4th song when Dora splits in half - drums).

About that 109, yeah - the guy didn't even see me. Most of those tracks/sorties are from UK Dedicated 3 which is on full real settings. I sneaked on his low six and pulled the trigger when he was in convergence range. 1 second burst as you can see. 90% of tracks come from UKD3 - hence the logo at the end. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Shame I couldn't use full shot for that kill. In full version I enter the frame from the left and then disapperar only to arise from the bottom again...

Thanks again for the comment.

You wouldn't know it from the videos but THOR is also a very accomplished virtual bomber pilot too! I've had the pleasure of flying in formation and dropping on his command (since I can't get the bloody bombsight thing to work to my liking http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). And then he turns around and blasts everyone with the Mustang http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Nicely done!

LOL! Yeah, I can't work the bombsights either, I just stick to fighter-bombers.

Very nice video Thor, I must get back to flying soon...

Have you thought of putting the movie, or at least a smaller version (if its too big) on Youtube>?

I thought you just flew bombers, you have some serious skill in fighters.

I can hold my own in a fighter. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Been flying them exclusively for a year before I finaly decided to try bombers.

I did think of YouTube, only I'm affraid how videos loose much of their quality there. And I'll need to split the video in half as YouTube limits them on 100MB.

EDIT:

- This was my 1st attempt at video making, and it is on YouTube - "Lady Luck". This is the You Tube version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1iNmq7nV5M

and you can find FileFront one (streaming) in my signature. See for yourself how FF has pretty much the same quality as the original.

Hope to catch you online.
