My MS Sidewinder II had an analog switch failure and I had to get another joystick. I bought the Logitech Wingman Force 3D and now I need some reccomendations on settings for it from people who use the same joystick. Right now my settings look like this:

I second that opinion.
I have tried both the normal Wingman and the force feedback one. With both of them FB is really quite unplayable; it is much harder to play than it should be, no matter what hotas settings you apply, simply because the limited stick movement and inaccurate raw data sent to the game for processing. It is extremely difficult to balance the plane on the edge of it's flight enevelope with this series of joysticks.
Plus the normal Wingman only lasted 6 months (and I am a gentle player). I thought the force feedback version would be better quality, but it is not. I took it back after one day of testing.

I now play with two Saitek Cyborg 3d Gold joysticks. Why two? Check out 'NewView', the little TrackIR emulation program. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've used a Logitech Strike Force 3D FFB (Beside a Saitek X45 hotas) because I got used to the swivel stick type rudder control. I have to agree with the others though - FB is allmost unplayable because the D* stick just doesnt have a center. If you can return it then do that and try to get a MS Sidewinder 2 FFB if you can - heard good things about that or a Saitek (they have a good price-quality ratio).

I've been playing with the Wingman Force 3D for a few years now, and have no complaints. In fact, aside from a problem with the twist pot (which is usually easily fixed with a bit of oil), I kinda like the ol' bugger.

Now, on topic, these are the settings I'm currently using:

I played online with this joystick last night and played better than I've played ever. I made some quick adjustments to the joystick settings. As the MS FFB2 isn't readily available, and I don't like risking it w/ eBay, that option is out. The FFB on this stick is great compared to not having it. I don't stall my plane much now. The limited motion is noticeable to me some but it has it's benefits. It seems the less movement I have, the less worn out my elbow gets while playing. Also I'm on of those twitch FPS players that likes short movements of the mouse.

Anyways, I fly IL-2 FB without any force feedback, because the recoil-effects when firing the guns makes it impossible to hit anything.

I have a wingman force 3d and have found it to be sloppy also. One thing i did to improve it was max the centering spring strength in profiler which helped with stability. Where are you guys changing the settings, as above, for the JS? Obviously not in the game where there is only options to change the pitch roll yaw settings.

VikingViper - You can use a program called ForceEditor (I can send it to you if you want) to edit the FF effects of firing the guns to a more bearable level.
fritz51 - There should be 10 sliders somewhere in the joystick settings in game to set the sensitivity for each axis of the stick in each part of it's movement. I'm too lazy to start FB up right now, but it sure be easily found.

Yo AirBot. Input in the game lets you change the sliders bars for pitch, roll and yaw ie 3 axis. However you have posted settings for 10 or so axis?

Yep Same here. All in all for the money it's not a BAD stick....it's just not a good one either. this is my second Logitech stick. the 1st was the same as the one i have now only with out the force feed back. I like the force feed back...but tend do fly & fight better with it off. I'll probably invest in a top notch stick , throttle quadrant, rudder peddles, track ir 2, & 3d glasses this year some time after i get the RAM upgrades i need & a better vid Card. those two irems need to com 1st.

Yo, I don't have a 3D Force, but Ihad a 3D Extreme. It was an alright stick until it broke at its base, but i dealt with it till i bought the brand new 3D Extreme Pro, with 12 programmable buttons(including 1 shift) a smooth hat and nice tight feel. I was flying better than I ever had in FB until about 3 weeks after i bought it, when it started f_cking up the calibration(rudder, elevators), requiring me to have to unplug it and recheck properties in the middle of flights sometimes. In short, the worst piece of crap stick I've ever owned. By the time I correctly diagnosed that the it was the brand new stick that was bad, the thirty day warranty from the store had expired, so now I gotta contact Logitech.

So while u might get a good stick from Logitech, I would keep my receipt if I were u.

i've gone through 10 logitech extreme 3d pros in in the matter of 4 months. I got a 2 yr warantee at best buy and not one of them will last for more then 2 weeks max. Someone needs to fire the v.p. of quality control for this company. Most pathetic POS joystick on the market for reliablity. Feels great and when it works I get kills, when it doesnt I get traffic and stop lights. Going to get either saitek or ms presicion next week, Aviod logitech at all cost!!!!!
