? Any of those "men's cars" have seatbelts ?

This one doesn't, and it did 197 mph at Spa in '67. Won the race, too

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/Chuck_Older/gurney_005.jpg

Any of your Ulster racers have the guts to brush 200 mph in an aluminum gastank filled with Avgas, and with no brake lights or seatbelts? Prolly not. The days of real Men racing cars is long gone

Well 462 yes they do actually in a bike you have no protection at all the cage is your body, brakes well in a bike brake are basicly for slow you down .... a bit at that speed on only 2 wheels
So yes nothing like a Motorbike racing...

Racing on a track and racing on streets road are two different devils..

Most forms of pro motor racing take brass balls and tremendous skill. I'll pick my favorite to watch based on which is the most exciting, not by which has the greatest chance of killing a driver and can therefore be declared as how "real men" race.

Just because today's race cars are safer than the ones 30-40 years ago shouldn't necessarily mean that the drivers today are less courageous or skilled than the ones back then. There's probably a lot of drivers back then that never reached their full potential because they got killed driving dangerous cars.

I for one am glad that today's racecars are safer. No one wants to see a driver get himself killed just to prove how much of a daring bad*ss he is.

Look at the crash during the IndyCar race last weekend. If it wasn't for the safety of modern cars, Dario Franchitti would have been seriously f'd up.

In Racing you have to fight not only the bike or road but also the body that cry like a horse and feel like he will fall in each corner.
It's interesting i went into aviation because of Motorbike racing..

how many Gs do those guys have to endure during braking and high speed turns?

F1 pilots have to handle G-forces up to 5.5g in sharp curves. Main body parts which are mainly influenced by those loads are neck and head. I guess those m-bikes jockeys will undergo much less G-forces (less than 2g) than F-1 pilots, because of the phsical layout of a bike.

motorbike road racing probably as dangerous as the old classic gp's, but different dangers.

average speed at tt on superbikes, 125mph+ (roads arent in awsome condition either), ulster i think is 130mph +. john maginess cracked 130mph average at the tt this year mind http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

bikes require more physical effert, but have much less G, most G is probably dragsters, with 8g of acceloration :O

Motorbike racing boring .. geesus! do not compare a bike with any of cage racing.. F1 is fantastic as well but it's a completely different animal .

For some of you that enjoy racing but don't have the money or physical ability to drive a F1 the next sport that is very similar is the "Go-Kart shifter racing", it's what give you the most adrenaline .

Now back on Bike racing it is clear that most of you never raced a bike.
I raced in Europe Motorbike on different cathegories as well of 80/125 cc shifter karts also dragraced my 1340 cc 1987 Gixxer in the states.

The G forces is not what make the sport.. for those that used to G's accelaration forward forces can be very desapointed in an aircraft.

bikes will never match G force or corner speed to F1 cars . simply dont have any downforce & dont have the grip

put the same size wheels on a F1 car , take off the wings of an F1 car & the bike will finish first LAPS ahead of the car

its harder to ride than drive - in car racing , your car is a bigger determining factor than your driver . whereas in motorcycle racing the rider & his set-up makes the main difference

basically - F1 can be a procession , where the lead is determined by the PARKING! (pitting) . bikes are more exciting

You should really see the on-board camera stuff from the TT its unbelivable...these guy's are hitting just shy of 200mph with bloody houses, walls, and pilons next to them!!!!

It is officaly the most dangerous race in the world and they have tried to ban it on numerous ocations, someone dies almost every year, like this year.

I ride my bike fast around the Highlands sliders an-all,but this is something else.

IMHO F1 has nothing on MotoGP,its so comercial, and bland, the cars sit behind each other for the whole race and the highlight of the whole race was AN overtake somewhere!

The guy's dont move, the cars dont undertake any change of position its almost a for-gone conclusion who's going to win from the off,and no sily anticks after the race, because it would look bad for the sponsor!!

When was the last time you watched an F1 race?

What is less commercial about MotoGP? Last time I checked they all had sponsors as well.

There may be more passings in bike racing, but it doesn't really make a race more exciting to me. Infact the last time I watched a bike race on Eurosport they were all racing in a nice line with .5 - .7 seconds between most of the bikes.

And when there are passes they're worthless. Why? Because they're so easy. You slipstream the the guy and outbrake him into a corner... yay.

He'll repass you soon or at the very latest during the next lap. It's hardly more exciting when you know the guy isn't going to stay infront. The pass has no value until it's the last corner of the race.

You watch a bunch of bikes race for 24 or 26 laps or something ridiculous like that. Do they even break a sweat during a race? And yep, the most exciting moment of the race was AN overtake!

About the danger, well I don't watch a race for the crashes. It brings me no entertainment value to see guys get hurt.

These are the main reasons I find bike racing so utterly boring. There are passes but they're effortless and worthless, just trading places for fun until the last lap. There's no reason to cheer or get excited when a guy passes another because it happens all the time and it has no real meaning.

And where are the strategies? If there are any.

But none of that matters, because you can burn rubber and do a wheelie! Yeah that makes racing better.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Now back on Bike racing it is clear that most of you never raced a bike. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

And it's obviously clear that nobody here has raced an F1 car. What's your point?

Seems to me that most people who are all "bike racing is where it's at, f1 is boring REAL men race bikes because it's more dangerous" are people who own a bike themselves and think that they are fast and living on the edge lmao... maybe take the bike out to a track day on a sunday afternoon and dream about being Valentino Rossi.

It also seems to be an ego thing... they race bikes and it's dangerous! someone dies almost every year! I have a bike so it could happen to me too! Man I'm living on the edge I'm such a hot shot.
