Just wondering because it`s been a while since the beta. I think the beta`s already pretty good. Are we actually going to get 4.09 before SOW comes out. Are there any new DLls out for testing perhaps?

At least a progress report would be nice.

You know theres a way to get the 72km draw distance using only some of the files from 4.09b in 4.08m http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

We got new graphics DLL's just a couple of weeks back. I think they are tidying up a few loose ends.

I wish they would tidy up the Avia, DXXI, and CW 21.

It's a myth..Whatever and whenever it comes to be, their aint gonna be nothing significant with it.Ya better off just waiting for SOWBOB to come out before that final patch is released. 2 weeks,2weeks,,,means nobody knows. Quite frankly im sick of waiting for it,so it dont mean a hill of bean if it comes or not http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif You'd have better luck seeing Santa Clause.lol http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Saw him yesterday heading South out of Russia, he was piloting a B29 flyable loaded to the hilt with DVDs.

Just copy il2_core.dll and il2_corep4.dll from the beta DLLs and change your conf.ini settings to activate the extra drawing distance

Wow is that a hack or a cheat?

Here's the readme from 4.09:

***** CHANGES in GRAPHICS ***********************

* Increased buffer size for stationary objects (buildings etc.)
to prevent freezes under some circumstances.

* Colors of water corrected for Water=2,3,4 modes.
Now when looking down it is no more black/dark blue.

* Optimized Shaders for Nvidia 8X00 series video cards.

* Added a new mode for increased visibility distance.
Visibility increased from 36 km to 72km
under "Clear" and "Good" weather conditions.

Note: This mode is not optimized for performance
(freezes and low fps are possible on low-end systems)
This mode is recommended for fast CPUs & powerful video
cards such as Nvidia 8800 series, ATI X1800 series or better.
With 512 MB of video RAM.

This new feature is available only in "Perfect" game graphics mode.

Also, there is a possibility to have problems with clouds and their
shadows at far distances, due to some engine limitations.

Modify your conf.ini string in the [Render_OpenGL] section
to use this mode:

LandGeom=3 (new mode is ON)
LandGeom=2 (back to normal mode).

So, by switching out the dll's described earlier in this thread, running in perfect, and changing your "landgeom=" setting from 2 to 3 should provide the improved landscape draw distance.

For the record, it WILL NOT improve the rendering distanceof dots allowing someone with it enabled to see dots from a greater distance.

I'm running the 4.09 beta and it's great. The maps are the best in the game - excellent detail, nice scenery, and the extra view distance is sweet.

No complaints here at all. The new maps are fantastic! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hey thanks mbfRoy! I already run those DLL's for 4.08. Didn't know that would let me do it

Hum, even if development is finished, I hate it to be topped with a "beta". They should release at least a version name change, so what we have becomes "official".
