hello
since it is confirmed that the allies will first get the Avenger as AI upon release of the sim then flyable with the inclusion of the Devastator as AI only (lack of documents)in the first patch, can anyone from the development team tell us wether the Kate which we will see only as AI (lack of documents)will be followed by the famous GRACE B7A1 RYUSEI torp bomber and wether there is no lack of cockpit documentation and therefore will be flyable?
thanks

B7A1? Never heard of that one.

What about the B6N Jill torpedo bomber. It officially replaced the Kate in service. I think that happened around 1944.

Any pics of that plane? I don't think I ever saw that one.

It was a very good carrier-based dive and torpedo bombing design entering service in late 1944/1945. Since by that time Japan had next to no carrier force they were used extensively from airstrips up to VJ.

The Smithsonian has the fuselage of a B7A2 Grace in storage at the Garber facility. I've seen the fuselage myself but I haven't seen the cockpit so I can't say if there's enough there for a model.

From the Smithsonian site:
"The National Air and Space Museum's Ryusei is believed to be the only remaining example in the world. The U.S. Navy recovered from the Japanese home islands and shipped it to the United States for evaluation. Unfortunately, nothing of the bomber's operational history is known. The Smithsonian Institution accepted the airplane in 1963 and placed it in storage. It awaits restoration at the Paul Garber Facility in Suitland, Maryland. The B7A2 proved a useful resource during the restoration of another Aichi product, the M6A1 Seiran (see NASM collection). Lacking drawings and other information, the restoration staff used the GRACE on several occasions to investigate how Aichi built certain features. Some parts were also identical and, if missing or damaged on the Seiran, could be copied from the Ryusei."

Read recently that there is also supposed to be a Kate at the bottom of Lake Washington. Any divers interested in getting us some cockpit info?

----------

thanks for great photos,i hope the cockpit is intact and documents available for the dev to ponder.we will never see the Kate flyable therefore could they consider this historic substitute?it also looks similar to the Kate for our mission and campaign building.Comments by the dev team would be appreciated by all.

Why would we want a plane that they only built 114 of including prototypes, when the japanese side needs so many planes that were actually prodcued in reasonable numbers? Off the top of my head, the Ki-45 "Nick" (~1700), B6N "Jill"(~1200), D4Y "Judy" (~2000), Ki-48 "Lily" (~2000), Ki-21 "Sally (~2000), Ki-30 "Ann" (~700), Ki-67 "Peggy" (~700), Ki-27 "Nate" (~3400), Ki-49 "Hellen" (~800), E13A "Jake" (~1400), A5M "Claude" (~1100), G3M "Nell" (~1000). There are more that were built in small numbers that would also be nice, and even they were built in greater numbers than the Grace. (Irving, Pete, Dave, Mavis, etc)

I suppose the interest in the Grace has to do with the desire for a torpedo bomber. You mention many important Japanese aircraft but how many of them are torpedo bombers that have excellent documentation in terms of a cockpit. The Grace may not be the best choice but it may be the only choice if Oleg and his team insist on having definitive documentation for cockpit layout.

exactly!!!!thats the objective. Who do we contact and how to know wether they have all the docs for this plane and wether it is programmed for the future?

I can think of an aweseome reason - B7As have never been modelled by software developers, and were used in the last months along with the A6m7s. I even have a foto in a book showing a B7A crashing itself into a cruiser.

In the thread "TO WHOME IT MAY APPLY" the MODERATOR BEARCAT gives us the e mail address in Russia where to send all enquiries and docs for plane evaluation and dev but unfortunately the messages bounce back!! Can anyone clarify?

NB:i sent a message to clarify their position regarding GRACE and JILL torp bombers.

If I remember correctly more Jill's were produced than Kates.. but the B7 was pretty rare compared to both of them..maybe 1/10th as many were produced..

sure, it would be never flyable, no pitsources, but as AI , well, offline ore COOP campaigns need alwasy AI planes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif und for sure the IJAAF so far (realy no bomber for them ) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
