I would say you're going to have to get a train from London. I've never made the journey, but I think there is a train from st pancras station to Cambridge. I would guess you'd catch a bus from there. This site may be of use to you,

Hope this helps! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you stay in London, stay somewhere near a Central Line underground station. To get to Duxford/ Cambridge take a train to Statford on the Central Line, and catch a coach/ bus from Bus Stop C (I think) outside. It's probably best to book it first (www.nationalexpress.com (http://www.nationalexpress.com)), 'cos they tend to fill up otherwise, but it will take you right into Duxford, and pick you up from the car park again, to take you back to Stratford. IIRC, they leave Stratford for Cambridge every hour at five past the hour.

The train is an alternative of course, but I wouldn't know the best way to get there that way. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you have any other questions about getting to/ from Duxford, you can e-mail me at bombphoon@hotmail.com if you like and I'll see if I can help. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Try and stay in Cambridge , http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&rls=GGLC,GGLC:1970-01,GGLC:en&q=bed+and+breakfast&near=Cambridge,+UK&sa=X&oi=localr%20.
To get from London to Duxford by train you need to travel from Liverpool Street to Whittlesford.Whittlesford is a 2 - 3 mile walk from Duxford. http://www.onerailway.com/timetable/timetables/downloads/liv-st-to-cambridge.pdf

Me and a friend of mine went to the VE day show.

Booked EasyJet 3 months in advance, ~"80 for a return flight per person from Schiphol to Stansted.

Also booked a car, had a Renault Modus for GBP 43,50 for 2 days. Europcar was the cheapest back then, might vary a little, but did not have a mile limit so we could travel anywhere we wanted.

We flew early and thanks to the free hour you get we went to the show on saturday, stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in Barkway (somewhere near Royston), only roughly 10 miles away from the IWM site and the M11. We slept in Sue's place, booked through www.theoldforge.net (http://www.theoldforge.net) You should book early (like: now!) as it is very busy during airshow days.

I don't know if it's easy to go the Hendon, though, others might know better. This is what we did, though.
