View Full Version : @Oleg & Team, suggestions for the PAY-Addon (AI) & Radio

Dear Oleg & Team,

I'd suggest to take a closer look at the Radio-Commands for the AI.
At this time some of the orders just don't work.
for Example:

Situation: you lead a wing of Ju87D3 (bomb's loaded)
Order: - attack ground targets!
Response: - unable to attack.
Result: You'll atack first, destroy a few tanks, than give the order to attack tanks again.
Result: AI dropps bombs imediatly and will start to strafe some cars instad of the tanks?!

Then i've got some mayjor problems with the wingman in air-combat.
Compared to EAW the radio is useless.

In EAW (EUROPEAN AIR WAR : MICROPOSE) the KI used to say somthing like, bandits at 4o'clock high; long nose 190's incoming, or just "MUSTANGS"!
I'm missing this.
The KI even did not notice the enemy!!! if you haven't told them to attack something they won't defend themselfes!
And the Ground control is completly useless.

You did not even know who is talking to you, ther should be something like, "this is 3" nr.1 watch out your 6 o'clock high.
They just scream for help and you just don't know who of them screams?

in a big conflict there is nothing to here like screeming.
It reminds me on: I scream, you scream we all sceam...for ice cream!

the main problem is the AI which seems dead.
just image you are playing offline and all you hear the whole missoins is you own engine ?!?
ground controll did not inform you, your wingman don't see anything. Even if you are with a whole squad you are alone.

the same goes to the bombers crew i think they sould warn you (the pilot).

if you can fix this (or add something like this) The pay addon it will be more interessting for offliners, cause the feeling of flying with dead brainless wingman will be replaced with some kind of famillar feeling.
It will add more atmosphere.
Well if i was unable to explain what i mean, then i'd suggest to play EAW (just a short free fight) and you'll see what i mean.

If it helps, I am starting to use just 2-element flights. I have noticed that with 4 aircraft in a flight, when they are on attack and leader runs out of ammo or just "forgets" to fight anymore (happens alot) and goes home, all 3 others give up and follow. Using only twice the number of half size flights lets you have twice the number of leaders and so AI has a better chance of staying around for the fun.

I, too, would like to pay to see the AI (mind you, there are other issues than those you described) at least somewhat fixed, and therefore would be happy if those fixes made it into the payware addon.

Not holding my breath though.. Probably this game will stay as it is: best played online as dogfight arena, or coops with humans only. Still plenty of fun for that.

I'm not shure but is it possible to add some kind of default radio commands in Online-Flight, which are played via sound-card and not only in the text.

some kind of:
bandit on my six, need help in sector XX

the xx will be automaticly replaced with the coordinates your plane is?


is this possible or will it take to much MHz Power?

This is a very good idea. Wingmen should tell you when they notice enemies around and ground control could be more useful. Other flights should state their position when they are under attack and so on. These features will be necessary in BoB so it would probably be useful to test it in FB, perhaps in a separately purchased add-on so that 1c get some cash for their efforts.

Another simple, yet highly useful feature would be to make your own flight´s radio transmission louder than everyone else´s so that you could tell if it´s your flight under attack or someone else on the other side of the map.

It would also be nice if the AI asked for a permission to engage.
