10-17-2006, 04:39 AM
Hey guys Im lucky enough(or unlucky enough depending on how you look at it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) to work right next door to an EB shop and while on my normal lunch squizz i saw a copy of skrike fighter's gold sittin on the shelf for only $24.95 Aus.(which is pretty cheap over here!)

I remember some of you guys talkin about it and sayin it was pretty good but im not sure as I'v never had a huge interest in that particular time period,Although I'm very willin to be suprised http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif,also i was readin about it seems that they have added a whole bunch of extra planes(even helicopter's!) and stuff to it.

Im willin to take the gamble but Im curious as to if and how i can get my hands on any extra stuff available for it.

Chears lads.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I like strike fighters a lot, I would have a look around and see if you can get Wings over Vietnam or Wings over Europe( these are the latest releases in the series)

You can download a load of aircraft from:

such as:

Inferior with joke game play. Great for a 10-year old just starting out. A ton of add-ons, though. I think that is the point of the sim, to produce great looking planes that don't do a hell of a lot.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Get WINGS OVER VIETNAM and add YANKEE AIR PIRATE and you will have the most historical, accurate, and immersive combat flight sim on the market, bar none, with the lone exception of BATTLE OF BRITAIN 2 by Shockwave. Compared to WOV with YAP---IL-2 ETC is a toy.

Just get Lockon wich will be far better see even the best of all sim.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Strike Fighter, lots of fun :

what it is :

Completely modable. I often wonder why people come here whining that il2 isn't modable, while they never go to SFP sites to show what they are capable of.

Dynamic campaigns depicting Korea, Vietnam, arab/israeli wars, and some what if like the excellent bering straits, and Nato/warsaw pact over europe.

Flyable planes from all country, including warsaw pact.

Plenty of addon planes from 1914 to 2006

Focus on the piloting, not on what button you should push after regulation 114/A in case B25CRT according to plane manual PN1024 revison C17

What it is not :

it isn't falcon 4, you don't need to call an AFB to know how the hell you're supposed to start your engine.

it isn't Lock on, graphics are ok, better if you fly high, but at least you don't need a dual core and SLI graphic cards to be able to have more than 10 fps.

an hardcore simulation with all planes conforming to their specs within 1%... In fact, nobody in the community care as long as the crate is flying more like a plane than a Tie fighter. If you are not happy with a flight model, tune it yourself!!! This is the SFP way.

A whiner dream. You are not happy with something? mod it!!! you want the most accurate flight models ever seen in a flight sim? tune them yourself. Your favorite plane isn't in the sim? Model it yourself!!! You want to fly over your house in the middle of nowhere? Make the map! No whining sir, the game is what you want/make it. This is the SFP way.

Some pictures, not many, i have more than 100 planes installed on my hard drive, and i'm far from having all that is available.

ah, you can play online, but like all completely modable games, you'll need everyone to have the same install of the game for it to work flawlessly. Most people keep two install, one with all their favorite planes/campaigns for offline play, and one for online play where they have only the addons their group agreed upon.

I must admit that online play isn't what it do best.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A little harsh I feel, flight model might not be up to the grognard level expected here but it doesn`t aspire to be.Strike fighters as release(the walmart fiasco)was an embarrassment, but has made big strides since.

The strike fighter community have put a lot of work into the game, the downloadable weapons pack has pretty much every weapon used in the past 40 years in it, working HUDS have been devel

Ditto what Hoarmurath and whiteladder said.

It's a great "lite" sim that is definitely not an arcade game. The modding is great and fairly easy to accomplish. By the way, the only differences between the three games (SF, WoV, WoE) are the default maps, campaigns and stock aircraft. As far as I am aware, you can export (copy and paste) planes and maps from one game to the other. Most add-ons will work in any of the three games.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'd give my pinkie toe to fly a Mirage F1 into combat.

Only thing I seem to see from every screenshot from the series is the flat featureless scenery. Are there mods or anything to improve this?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hey capt. I live up in Beautiful Cairns right next to the barrier reef http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif whih is great place to live cause of the amazing scenery and the amount of backpacker's that come through here http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

But its pretty far from the big city's so its hard to get software that isnt for a bloody console(not that there's anything wrong with that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)I was kinda shocked just see strike fighter's in there at EB http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
