Ok I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. I'm 7 patrols into my first career and on the last two I've missed everythign I've tried to torp. I've only fired from 1000M or less (usually less that 600), with the target within 30 degrees +/- of "0" and crossing my bearing at or near 90 deg., torps set med speed and impact pistol. I shot 2 last night at a small merchant not 400M away turned broadside straight infront of me and neither impacted! I've got the "action camera" or whatever it is called and the external camera deactivated so I don't know what shots are pistol failures and which ones just missed - though I have zoomed in on the tdc and watched some miss but others I am just mystified by!

Have you checked the depth-setting for the torpedoes?

If it's to deep, it can pass under the ship, or it can hit the keel wich is at quite an angle and just bounce off.

And if you're missing aft, it's likely you need to open your torpedo tubes first. If you don't, when you press fire, the tube takes a few seconds to open. This could make you miss aft. If you open them first (press "Q"), when you fire, the torpedo will shoot out of the tube almost immediately.

I am always careful about opening my outer doors but I had not even thought about my depth settings http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
I will try that - I was not going to post this but last night I had set up what I thought were some textbook attacks and got nada http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I prefer to manually open the tube doors rather than doing so by pressing the "Q" key. After a certain time, the doors will close again. If you open them manually they will stay open. To do so, go into the room below the bridge and toggle the switches next to the tube lights to open or close the doors.

How does the performance of the sub change with the doors open? Are you lounder? Slower? I'm assuming you cannot begin to reload with the doors open http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif but is there a delay between when you close the outer door and the reloading process begins?

As soon as you shoot, the door of this torpedo is automatically closed.

You cannot open the doors if you're under 50 meters or so. But you have no reason to keep doors closed at deeps until 25 meters.

"Open the front tube door please Hal"
"I am sorry but I can't do that"
"Hal, stop arguing with me, open the front tube door"
"This conversation serves no purpose, I am sorry, good bye".
"I shoot you myself!"
"Without any bullets you will find that pretty difficult ....... I removed them from your side arm while you were asleep ... people should not make war .... this boat is going south ... locked on Havannah beacon tower one , good bye"

.... all this world is yours except the U.K. .... attempt no landing there ....

Burp! Cheers!
