Thank's... the Zeppelins and the Oberservation Balloons Photo's caught my eye.

http://www.earlyaviator.com/archive/a/images/zep_L63.jpg

The crews for those Zeppelins that were traveling across the Channel to bomb England at the time... and with no escort or etc for protection except a few machine gun on board. Basicly hoping that the British Fighters wouldn't be able to gain alttitude or the Anti-aircraft fire wasn't on Mark. It must have taken a Very Brave Soul indeed to fly aboard those Zeppelins.

Is it a bird, is it a plane?...

I always liked this view of a WW1 Short seaplane - fished from the sea after a failed t/o or landing, iirc, and now resident in the RNAS Museum at Yeovilton UK.

Just the cockpit, engine and centre-section remain - along with that giant radiator set right in front of the pilot! It always makes me laugh when I read the 190 pilots' complaints about seat height http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A great set of links and photo's here Woofie and all http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Thank you!
