Yeah I was stoked about this game but waited till it dropped in price last year (got it in the bargin bin for $10 CDN).

Anywhoo, I really love ground pounding in it (the Mig 29 is great for dropping bombs). The air to air stuff is not fun for me, shooting a sidewinder at a guy 5 miles away is not my idea of a dogfight but the ground pounding makes the game worth full price in my books.

I'm trying to find a copy of it right now. The 1.1 demo was much more impressive than the old Lock On Demo and I'm going to try and grab a copy.

Does anyone know what this is:

I'm hoping its a re-release so I can actually buy it in the stores. But I'm not really sure.

Try out the Frogfoot(Su-25) for groundpounding, it really rocks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I love Lomac... Flight Models are incredibly accurate... Avionics are great fun... And while BVR may not be fun, it really tenses you up when you realize you're flying right into a missile yourself. Tricky stuff.

As Bush would say, you seriously misunderestimate the skill needed to engage a skilled opponent in air to air combat...

haha lomac realistic or difficult try falcon 4.0

blomac start engine bnz fire in 1 vs 3 fire missle get kill.

chaff flare chaff flare yawn, its much better with the latest patch also terrain looks so much better and runs better then il2 i think. Still the game sucks and so does the ammount of online players, lomac was a complete failure even cfs3 did so much better

No, I never underestimated anything, I just think it's boring compared to fighting in a prop plane. In fact I fall asleep when "locking on" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm just saying it's a lot tougher than most people think. Those missles don't automatically track themselves to the target.

I will go so far as to say that modern jet combat is much more difficult than WWII air combat. To properly utilize your radar, to properly release your weaponry, to properly subdue aerial threats without becoming subdued yourself demands a much higher workload than most think. I am, of course referring to online combat where the pilots are much more skilled than the AI. With missle effectiveness turned down, the fights really tend to get nasty and up close and personal, and often after people have gone winchester with their external stores, they resort to guns. And gunfighting at such high speeds requires much more concentration than one would think...
