If you're looking for volume 1 - AFIK, it's out of print.

Since the authors changed publishers after vol 2, vol 2 may be out of print by now too.

Search the web for second-hand copies - and good luck. (If you find vol 1 at a sensible price - let me have it ;-), I want a copy)

I am a kiwi but have never been able to find aviation/military titles at a reasonable price (although this hasn't stopped me buying far to many). I have the Black Cross/Red Star volume one and two but they cost me about 140NZ$ each.

If you are in the south island "liberty books" in christchurch sometimes has some nice titles but I reccomend the using http://www.abebooks.com and paying for postage. It's expensive but usually cheaper than the ridiculous prices technical book stores charge.

It seems that Black cross/red star will be reprinted by Ian Allen press sometime in the future and that it will be an expanded/improved version. This could just be a rumor but I have a feeling it will happen. I don't reccomend paying1 300$+ for the current edition volume one as although its a great source of information the quality of the layout and printing is terrible. The pictures are very low res and some of the place names are almost unreadable.

http://www.ianallanpublishing.com is worth checking out as they often have good specials and the shipping costs are about the same as amazon.com. "SOVIET COMBAT AIRCRAFT OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR Volume 2: Twin-Engines Fighters, Attack Aircraft and Bombers" is now only â£5.95. (I don't work for ian allen by the way)

In the meantime AIR WAR OVER RUSSIA by Andrew Brookes could be a possible substitute although I haven't read it myself. It would cost you about 75NZ$.

Good luck finding BC/RS as they are good books.

I have two copies of "Russian Reactions to German Air Power in World War II (German Air Force in World War 2 Series)", part of a series of studies about the luftwaffe written mostly by Luftwaffe officers and commisioned by the Americans. PM me if you are interested in a copy.

try amazon.com I am quite sure they will ship any where in the world. I did a quick search and found Vol. 1 in good, but used condition for 30.00 american dollars.

140NZ$ is only about 70Us$ so I consider my self pretty lucky getting them for that price. I found them in a book store in Kobe, Japan. I had to borrow money of my girlfriend to buy them as I didn't have enough on me at the time.

Abebooks.com lists has a few copies of volume 2 for sale for less than 45US$ but zero copies of volume one.
