Well, I have yet to land on a carrier without having any of the following happen so this is my least favorite part:

1) Good landing but I forgot to drop the arrestor hook and roll off the bow and am run over.

2) Remember to lower the hook but overshoot at stalling speed, roll off the bow and am run over.

3) Land too hard, snap off the gear, carom off the island or just shoot over the side and am run over.

4) Land too softly with the tail too high, bounce, hook misses, slam the throttle up but run out of ship, so...you guessed it...drop over the side and am run over.

5) Or just smack into the stern, island, other planes, etc. and turn into a fireball. But at least then I'm spared the Wile E. Coyote-style death of my carrier running me over.

Other than that I just wish there were some flyable torpedo planes like Kates, TBM's, Avengers.

In all seriousness it is the limited IJAAF/IJN planesets. Hopefully this will be addressed soon.

A second place to this are the awful default skins/numbering system on the late Zeros. Honestly, these things look like wrecks pulled from the New Guinea jungle 60 years after the fact.

Some of the DMs I find a little irritating, but I understand that they're pushing the envelop of what's possible. I think it's because they're so good that I expect more of them, and get frustrated. This sim's pretty spot on and I think I find it deficient because it's only almost perfect, and not actually perfect.

Other than that its,I hate the terrain. especially new Guiene, the elevation and vegetation are all wrong. Look at MSFS2004 for a real sim view of new Guiene. Oh ya, The offline Campaigns (D-) the historical accuracy issue. I actually like the planes, except no 2d cockpit. Other than that, the game is perfect! Cheers

That is also one of my personal findings. We were told by Mr. Luthier that there would be dozens of classes of ships on Netwings before the title of the game was actually released.....Check out what is apparently in the game as of 3.04:

USN has 2 CV, 0 CVL, 1 CVE, 0 BB/BC, 1 CA, 0 CL, 2 DD, 0 DE, 1 sub

RN has 1 CV, 1 BB/BC, 0 CA, 0 CL, 0 DD

IJN has 2 CV, 0 CVL, 0 BB, 0 CA, 0 CL, 2 DD, 0 subs

No US Battleships at all, no Yorktown class carriers, no IJN battleships, no IJN Battlecruiser, no IJN cruisers at all whatsoever.........Basically, a Lot is missing to have any hopes at recreating some of the spirit of what Luthier was boasting about and any chance at some kind of accurate representation of the pacific theatre.

The planes were delivered to the front lines unpainted except for the hinomarus and early in the war. The ground crews used a lightweight paint that had little or no quality control, was often just swabbed on, and was of such poor quality it would peel off in the harsh PTO conditions.

US planes from that theatre looked pretty beat up, too. But I guess we had better paint and more time to apply it, while the IJN/IJA were more concerned with trying to keep anough planes in the air. So touch-ups were not a priority.

The scruffy paint jobs look far more authentic than a good clean one from around '43 on.

I've had the same complaint from Day 1 - the AI. I hate the Ace ai who can do things with his airplane that I can't with the same type aircraft, I hate the ai gunners who can hit my engine from 600+m and 60 degrees deflection with a single burst, and I especially hate the ai wingman who's always hiding behind my canopy frames, waiting for the chance to ram me or steal credit for the aircraft that I disable.

while I can deal with no ships (even though it disappointing) since it doesn't affect gameplay but single player campaign and missions are what really hurts PF. Especially since most buyers don't play online. If it's true 90% of those who buys PF doesn't play online then that would mean also 90% of the sales comes from those who plays it just for the single player game. This is why Shockwave is putting single player game first priority over online play in their BOB game. In general, the less offliners like a game the less money the game can be expected to make which also limit the resources which a small company can invest in a game. it's even more true when it comes to Flight Sims since they are not a popular like FPS. ( There is still over 30,000 player online on Sony's Socom 2 compaired to barely breaking a thousand on IL2/Pf)

Least favorite thing?

The way bombs and torpedos do not do any damage (despite still having the explosion effect), once you are killed.

For instance, you go on torp/bomb run, drop the weapon, get killed by a direct flak hit, weapon hits, weapon explodes, target takes no damage.

It has happened more times to me than I can count.

Hmmm least favourate thing....

the way the game calls anyone who destroys a manned aircraft on the ground a vulcher.

That is one of my pet hates thats come from IL2, to FB to AEP and now PF.

U fly for half an hour in some laden bomber/fighter bomber, you conduct a proper attack on an airfeild and should you be lucky enough to find grounded aircraft during your attack on the feild and take one out the game accuses you of vulching.

I hate that. it's wrong and should be changed. Vulching is the act of "waiting for aircraft to spawn in order to catch them on the ground and destroy them."

This is very different from conducting a purposfull ground attack on the airfeild and any targets of oppertunity - ie straffing - which is IMHO perfectly okay -if within server rules- but the fact that the game itself reflects the programers attitude and calls you a definte vulcher really sux bad.

Agree on that Tigger(Tha wunderful thing 'bout Tigger is that tiggers a wonderful thing)!!
Although I rarely play on-line sometimes it helps me to play against humans. If not for anything to boost my morale after constantly gettin downed in my Dauntless by the a.i..
but I think the Vulture label should NOT be applied to any of the bombers. Of ANY Type!!
And I'd like to see a better hit system for those who play on line.
Maybe something along the lines of archery hunting laws:
The hit that is determined to be the coup de grace should be the one credited and the person who scored the fatal hit is the one with the dinner on his table!! NOT THE PUNK WHO SHOT THE deer in the HOOF!!!! No matter how many hits the planes receive in between the "fatal" hit and the ground its the Fatal shot that is rewarded!!
And YES that is the law. The law of first blood.
But it does not apply if you are going up against a guy who HOOF-shot him while you double lung heart shot it!!!
"Yeah, so what, you head shot the pilot with yer cannon but it was yer wingy who actually brought the a/c down cuz of a snapshot on his wingroot!" PREPOSTEROUS!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
Gotta say that it doesn't help us dyed in the wool bomber pilots!!!
And I'd like to see some unit discipline for idjits that try to take a snap shot "over your shoulder" at the guy in front of you!! Online or off!!
Penalty points? for actin like a water buffalo @nus!!! Or how bout instant carrier side demotion upon landing to the Brewster for the duration of the war?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

this just really bugs me for some reason. I mean I love the game, but I was hoping for that level of detail. I mean the Pacific War was so heavily naval that they should have included larger fleets in the game. Also, they need more ship models, as someone else has also mentioned. My only other gripe is that they need more campaign games with more planes and battle maps.

if only the people could hear the sincerity and feel the frustration and angst of this lament....and you know, if the mods have had it up to here with the crying and bellyaching, imagine how the developers and modelers feel.

Sadly - too many who frequent and post on these boards seem to know exactly what they are up to and seem to be intentionally baiting other members, the mods and 1c.

Dont wonder too long about why they at 1c are mum about the patches or add-ons...or why we dont see dev. updates with regularity anymore.

Just look around at some of the thread topics and replys....FYI
