How do you guys Garantee that the Retail version of this game dont have the same Errors as an pirated version. I know lots of people using lots of pirated versions of software and never having these kind of problem thus saying that its only becuase of it being a pirated version and not even investigating this problem is kinda lame of an Ubisoft® employee.
I want some sort of Garantee from ubisoft that this error wont happen in the retail version of the game. If not its not worth buying and taking unnessesary risks.

That pirated version was an early beta.

The game might have problems but I think Ubi's game testers would notice if the game crashed when you reached a major destination.

The real version will be in development longer, whereas like Phreaky said, the pirated version is the beta

the error wont happen and has benconfirmed by ubi as the finaly copy will be final and not a early test copy. the fact is there has probly been sevral test clients released after the leaked one.

and also worse scenario if it does.

Ubisoft will not release a patch until the day it truly is released.

So therefore your *so called pirated version* wont get a patch until that day

And it may be like the patch released simultaneously with Settlers 6, after that had been cracked well before the release day, it added extra copy protection. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

yeh it did but unfortunatly everything gets broken eventualy and I found out why the legal dvd bypass doesnt work no more without editing a file. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well, nothing lasts forever, and given time, they'll get round anything, but it sure slowed them down for a while, it was released over 6 months ago now, so that's why they made further changes.

As the problem was triggered by profle updates, I asked pennyuk, one of the Ubi settlers forum mods for help, I needed a mod with user profile editing permissions to delete some entries so that it would work again.
She posted on the mods forum and FCY saw it, and did what I asked, and that fixed my profile. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Buying the game IS the guarantee. That's why there's support contact information, just in case you have any issues with it. Should you have an issue (and don't feel like using these official forums for help), you can contact them by phone, mail, or web form and expect a response with support for your individual problem. That's the same kind of guarantee with any commercial software.

I bought the retail because i really like the game.
But unfortunately the leaked pirate version ran better on my pc than the retail version does.
At least on the pirate version i got as far as jerusalem.
On the retail version i cant even get passed the tutorial.
2 minutes into the tutorial my pc shuts down http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Any ideas? Short of a not-yet-existing patch :P

I have a just same problem. I just get my new game DVD for PC and installed it to my computer. Game starts ok, but after few minutes it crashes and shuts down the computer.
PLEASE HELP !!

Here are my system parameters:

- Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
- AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
- 2048MB RAM
- DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
- NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Driver: 6.14.0011.6921

DxDiag tells: No problems found, for every test

And yes, I have restarted my computer few times.

Tried reinstalling twice and i got to finish the tutorial and start the actual game and then it crashed my pc again.
So at least i got to play 5 more minutes.

See the similarities? now WHY would a game shuts down a computer?! (as in turn off?! hwaw) if that really is the case, i suspect a WORM or some kind of virus! your pc specs are faaar greater than mine but i don't have any problem as of yet! try REFORMATING windows or run a reputable virus scan (like the online virus scans i think it really detect all of em).

He is smart enough to give all info needed for people to help him... in the end though he solved it himself (nobody came... sad sad world) anyways good for him.. it might work with you as well if you have the same setup! ü try it!

Thanks guys your reply, but i'm not stupid with computers !! I have been 20 years on computer business, so everything like "reinstall the game" or "i suspect a WORM or some kind of virus!" or "update your drivers" are bs for me.

Go to look topics like http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4721051016/m/4191030356 or http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4721051016/m/3211040056 and you will see what is going on. THEN please give a good suggestions for problem.
