View Full Version : Errors in external 3D model of Zero (in case it's overlooked)

In particular:

1. The left wheel of Zero wobbles as it's not aligned properly:

2. The hinge (not sure how it's called) that connects aerlons with control wires is missing on left wing:

Hi
Good post.... By the way, a lot of prop spinners of many planes in FB "spin" in a wrong way..... I really hope they will fix those errors....

i think i remmber seeing a article and something was asymetric on the zeros wings todo with the alierons/flaps
oh and spinner going round the wrong way, could be just the way it appears to the eyes, watch a car accellorate, and at certain speeds wheels look like they going backwards

hm... I am pretty sure an aircraft must be symetrical in left/right side... the wheel is obviously off and both aerlons must have same design.

Kuky,
You are right, long ago (first screens of Zero posted) that the wings and horizontal stab of the Zero are misshapen.
Look at photos of the real thing and it is readily visible.
I am grateful both for the <<<ahem>>> Pacific map and the Zero, but the external model is actually among those few FB aircraft that do not follow the prototype very closely.Flaps, aileron, canopy and wings all differ to some degree from the original Zero.
I believe this is what Oleg was referring to when he said that a new external model of the Zero will be released with the final version. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I'm happy if it got to their attention /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif well at least in this case... I'm still sceptic about some other issues (like the Zero/Kittyhawk relation) and can just hope the'll be worked on a bit as well /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Truth be told, I'd rather other important things be spot on, like the flight modelling.

Details are important, but the ones that have to do with the flying, fighting and in-game experience are the ones I wish the design team would see to first.

I really don't CARE if the Zero's aileron connector is modelled as a 3D object or not: hell, just map it on the 2D art and save a few polys.

However, how they could miss the obvious overmodeling of the P-39 climb and E-retention in the last version....I don't know. I sure hope it wasn't because they were looking for aileron hinges.

mate... I don't fly the P-39 so I'm gonna comment on it. I agree with you FM's are important however, they will NEVER be spot on! In fact... real life testings are NEVER completely accurate and will NEVER give same results! So, having 10km more or less on the top speed is irelevant.

What I wanted to point out is a very obviuos mistake, especially the landing gear... hinge more or less really doesn't bother me, but the wheel does... and tell you what... this is very easy to fix.

It's amazing how fast some people can turn so drastically the tone and direction of a post

Yeah, just as easy to fix as the cartoon muzzle flashes, the yellow-stained canopy streaks in Late Model Bf109s and other things that actually affect combat. I'd put all those ahead of a gimpy wheel.

I'm just saying, a wobbling wheel only offends the eye for a few seconds while a plane taxies; it has no real effect anywhere else. Other things that have an effect on combat (which is the raison d'etre for this sim) are a bit more important, I'd think. And while we agree that FM numbers have to allow for a little bit of wiggle room (or is that wobble room?), it's important to fix those grossly over/undermodelled ones (the aforementioned P-39/G6 Standard from version 1.1 coming to mind as good examples).

I posted about this as it's a bug... and it might be overlooked. There are more important things that should be fixed, but that doesn't mean everything else can be neglected. I don't care if you don't care... it's there, I've made a note of it... if they fix it great, if not... bummer. End of story /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
