hi, I would try to start with making a film with il2 fb.

reading on all post I tried to identificate the most useful programs for do that. I'm a bit confused after I've noticed the complexity of all this "adventure is cause there are lots of programs for make film and most are wery complicate (and expensive) for use too.
Can anybody tell me if this is sufficent and possible for me (I run win 2000 edition) only to use:

- Window Media Encoder 9 for film capture

- Window Media Maker for editing (cut and link scenes and for add ony no- focus effect at the scenes) and first of all:can I install It in my win 2000?

- some free and easy program for add/manage sound-music at my film (if this option isn't in WMM (?)).
Wish to be patient and understand for my english (I'm italian) Thank everyone who can help and answer me

falco,

Most are using Fraps for the actual capture of film footage.

The good thing is that it is free.

Download the appropriate version at http://www.fraps.com

Set Fraps capture at 15 fps, and film most of your captures from a track file running at half-speed. You then have VirtualDub change clips back to 30 fps, to have playback at "normal" speed.

Note, this isn't set in stone, as you can film "live" at 15 fps, and with the right editing software, cut the playback speed of a clip in half to correct playback speed. I've done this for some effects in my first film.

Get VirtualDub here:

http://www.virtualdub.com

I am using "VideoStudio7" from Ulead for assembling my movies. It isn't free, but much cheaper than some of the other editing software.

Check it out here: http://www.ulead.com

You'll find a lot of usefull information on that forum, and the search feature really works.

Good flight to you !

S~ Also a few tips for Fraps - by default Fraps will save your files to the root directory eg. C:/Fraps

1: create separate folders inside your Fraps main folder

eg. C:/Fraps/Scene1 , Scene2 , Scene3 and so on
---- Before you collect clips change the target directory in "Folder to save movies in" to the one you want- this way you can keep track of the clips and what scene they go with-as well as projects

2: save your screenshots in a separate folder as well and make subdirectories for those

eg. C:/Fraps/screenshots/scene1

It helps me keep Organized just a tip!!!!

I use fraps200 , it did cost US$26 , i can now record at 1024 X 768 and have sound as well. To me it was well worth it. Then i compress and edit with virtualdub .what was a 3 gig file comes down to 119MB. am real happy with the outcome. Still room for improvement but practice makes perfect. Hope this helps
