Thought I would share this little bit of news to you guys.

Goose_Green is moving to a new base, yes, I'm buying my first house http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif - and about time too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

It's taken a while to sort out the paper work and stuff but I'm moving tomorrow http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif So I have shed loads to do now lots of boxes are scattered all over my flat and it looks like chaos http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The best thing about the new house is that I'm cycling distance from work, so I can finally get some fitness in which I really need. Plus I have a luxury of a garage and drive way - something I have never had before, I have always had to park my car in the street in the nearest residential area - where it's easier to win the lotto than get a parking space.

But the best thing really is that it's my own place and hopefully a sound investment too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So, the end result of this home move is that I maybe off line for sometime while BT transfer my internet to the new address. Let's hope it's not for too long http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif Goose_Green quickly ensures Celeon and his vast intelligence agency empire is unaware of GG's new base. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Congrats on the new home. Hopefully it won't cramp your computer budget.

I lay down a challenge for Celeon to post pictures from Google Earth of your new home.

I wish Google Earth had real time capabilities so a picture could be posted of you leaving your home on your bicycle. That would be spooky, but fun.

But I'm sure the Intelligence Agencies can do this already - and have done so already... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

And we were just finished installing all those cameras and microphones while you were at work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I guess my work never ends ... http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/166/090smilieyt0.gif

Goose made a crucial mistake by revealing that his new home will be in "cycling distance" from his workplace.... That gives me something to start with http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Anyway, these are great news http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

A own home is always a good investment (Except you are borrowing money from a US bank for it) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif You can listen to loud music, make big parties...have your own gaming room http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Celeon will be helping to build the house of a friend in the coming months. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Goose,

Congrats, that's a big move (in life, I mean). I'd be interested in seeing what your lending rate on your mortgage is (assuming you didn't buy it lump sum http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif) and compare that to what we get here in the USA.

The "O" owns a small house (that CEL will never find http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif) and has an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) for 30 years. I did the ARM since I did not think I'd be stationed here more than 3 years, now I'll be here another 3 years, so like a lot of Americans, I'm looking at a rate hike in about a year and a half. I should be good to handle it though. In December I go over 20 years in my career and get another salary promotion http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

So bottom line, I have a 30 year, 5 year ARM and right now I'm paying 5.125% which equates to $1830 a month.

At least in the US we can claim all the interest paid to mortgage against our federal tax payment.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Perhaps I can hire CEL to wire my house -- what am I thinking http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

What brand of listening devices will you be installing?

Also remember, a good quality paint covers all building irregularities.

Celeon owns a wide variety of old but still functioning STASI surveillance equipment http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Just second hand... of course http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

This enables me to ask : Goose, What do you prefer ?

What about this little birds house which will never be occupied by birds http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

It can be put on a tree of your choice http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

And this would be perfect for your new garage

I just KNEW it was no coincidence that a clandestine search of Celeon's "Post Socialist" apartment turned up this picture in a file labeled "Private & Personal"!

Best of luck Goose! Some packing tips for you:

The last box you pack has all your essentials in it. Make sure you carry this box yourself - don't leave it to anyone that is helping you as it will get lost amongst all the other boxes. I did this when we last moved and this special box, along with my PC was the only thing I didn't let the removal firm guys touch.

Suggested contents:

Kettle, tea, coffee and mug
Toothbrush, wash kit (being TA I know you'll have this sorted!)
PC
Beer
SH3

When's the housewarming? Is there space for us all to park our U-Boats? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Is that one of those housewarming parties where you have to bring a present ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

If yes :

Does Goose have a garden next to his new house ?

What about a nice exclusive Intellipedia shovel http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I'm doing the move myself, thankfully my cousin has a van for his company which I'm borrowinghttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I have very little to move anyway, mainly because my flat is quite small and I have very little space for my stuff as it is. Mind you when I finally quit TA 2 months ago I had loads of stuff to give back plus some of the extra stuff I acquired along the way, most of it I donated to the recruits.

The PC is the really sticky situation, it's gonna take a while to get connected to the net - and I'm not sure I can last more than a day without it - mind you with my new "domestic" projects I have in mind I won't have time for the PC http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

But, I have several cans of Becks vier in the fridge waiting to be opened later today http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif To hell with the mug and tea http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have finally moved in, err, well I did last week but it's today I finally got myself back online - and doing the wi-fi thing too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Which proved to be a minor nightmare http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif Why is this system such a pain in the back side?

Anyway, here is a pic of my humble abode;

The car belongs to my father who was visiting me for a few days, mainly to check that I could paint the walls okay - but, I managed to get him painting toohttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That looks very nice Goose http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I like the brick design, it gives the house a nice traditional british style http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But the lawn needs some attention http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I thought you brits were so crazy about keeping the lawn absolutely perfect ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hey, cutting the grass is the last thing on my mind at the moment, getting the inside ship shape is my top priority at the moment, but with the week off work this week it's slowly getting there. I have a kitchen project lined up for the new year...but I have more immediate concerns like getting the 40" TV installed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif I have an XBOX360 straining at the leash to be played on something more substantial than my 19" PC monitor http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'm also hoping I can connect the PC to the TV too - Imagine 40" screen with SH3 being played on it?

Yeah, I never realised how much stuff I had, I managed to do most of the move myself with the help of my cousin's work van. The bigger items I could not carry I managed to get some help from my best friend http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Apart form a new shower unit I bought today everything is okay. I'm having the boiler serviced tomorrow, hopefully it's okay especially with winter coming soon. BTW, B&Q is now my second home http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
