Well, I remember going to our local fleapit with my Dad( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Lost him two years ago this very month) to see the Battle of Britain back in 1969... I enjoyed it then and after just watching it on Channel Five I can say that I have enjoyed it again... Brilliant Aerial sequences and a stirring musical score, today€s Mail film guide uses the word 'Breathtaking'

I can honestly say it still is!

Parts still bring a lump to the throat.

Sec.

I lost my mum two years ago in january, and like Airmail im at sixth form too, only 17. Also like airmail, i am hopin to get to Duxford pretty soon. Just aint got the money rite now. You was lucky to have your Dad as long as you did, be thankful for that, and believe it that hes still there i know my mum is, just a little harder knowing that you cant see them. Airmail, where abouts are u from? I dont know anyone my age with my interest in warbirds etc. And on BofB, it is a classic. I love the long sequence near the end with the dramatic music, and the bit where that pilot goes to london to see his family then they die in the church, that really touches me every time.

i dont have a clue where rutland is so i doubt i go ur college lol, i take it its quite near cambridge if u just get on a train, im in south london so takes me at least 3 hours by coach from victoria, london. Where i live is just lil crackheads on street corners being plebs, a truly shallow town lol dont be sorry, ive heard that so much, im used to it now, sont mean to say im over it, that never happens. Maybe we could go Duxford and meet there some time in the Summer. Do you fly on HL?

I need to get to know some like minded aviation loonatics......I plan to fly warbirds some day and getting hold of one is by no means a 1 man operation unless your a millionare!

Howdy Secudus http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
It really is a great film as far as the airborne sequences go, I have issues with the 60's hairstyles though. And yes I too have happy memories of running round the playground, arms extended shouting "Daka-daka-daka!" thanks to an afternoon spent enthralled at my local fleapit.

oh ive seen u on there before, got the impression u was older though, im 334th_Zippo on HL. It would def be cool to meet up with some1 like minded. what kind of voluntary work can u get there, i didnt realise u could work there. I wanted a warbird at your age too ive loved ww2 planes since i was a lil nipper, and i was joinin the RAF as a pilot in 3 years, but mum goin sent me right off track, now im scrapin through my A levels lol shows how life can change. i have just got a job, payin 180 a week so can save for a bit, then learn to fly. unlikely the RAF will still consider me though, so it looks like cessnas for me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif oh well

"oh ive seen u on there before, got the impression u was older though" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

LOL was it something I said?????? Yeah ive started my A level now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

"I wanted a warbird at your age" believe me that was no joke.....i cant join the RAF as a pilot so ive got other goals to do with flying now. Ive spoken to a fair few warbird pilots who have pointed me in the right direction!
Anyway you need A levels to be a pilot!

Sir Laurence Olivier playing Dowding was a master stroke. If you see pictures of the real Dowding,, hell they even look alike.

I didn't watch the film last night (Kids wanted to watch Dr Who,,,) but my favourite bit if I remember right was when the German Ambasador was talking to the British (Consul?) in Switzerland about suing for peace. Thought it was great the way the normal British "reserve" started to crack and he told him in no uncertain terms it aint gonna happen.............. that brought prickles up on the back of my kneck.

Great film.
