Please only replies from real pilots using Hyper Lobby need to reply, all others read a book, watch a documentary and learn

Oleg, where are you getting your flight models. Have you even tried looking at some old footage of dogfights or listen to the pilots from WWII?. The graphics are great, the flight physics seem correct but what has been done to some planes makes them unflyable.

I might suggest you talk with Ham from the squadron BlitzPig. He is a real WWII pilot and he flew a Hurracane.

I love some of the details you have put into the game, they are great but please listen to someone who knows or watch some films. Most planes started with 320 to 350 MPH and only got faster, The Hurc was being modified after two week into the battle of Britain with heavier guns and modifying the engine came into play into the third week.

Love the Graphics hate all of the plane models

Any concrete data to support your tiny-fisted tantrums, or just the usual drivel?

============================
When it comes to testing new aircraft or determining maximum performance, pilots like to talk about "pushing the envelope." They're talking about a two dimensional model: the bottom is zero altitude, the ground; the left is zero speed; the top is max altitude; and the right, maximum velocity, of course. So, the pilots are pushing that upper-right-hand corner of the envelope. What everybody tries not to dwell on is that that's where the postage gets canceled, too.

1.1b is the best fb has ever been and its a beta patch, most of the major bugs were eliminated but theres some new ones now.

Prove it.

"I saw it in a documentary" is not enough.

List what you saw, compare it with what you see, post the tracks to prove the claims. Otherwise, you are not in anyway adding to improving this game.

As of now we don't know about which plane you're complaining about, about what characteristic in which situation you're complaining about, how you think it should be but is not, which is why you're complaining about.

Unless you want a whole lot of embarassment from the people who really have nasty attitudes compared to me, you'd better start becoming more specific and explaining things, instead of asking things like "Oleg, are you a putz?"

LastRights my only knowledge of the Hurricane is from one of my own Flights pilots who has since retired and gone onto the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. I gave him a copy of FB to play with and his brief words were that the FM was incorrect.

Admittedly I cannot ask him to extrapolate his reasons as he also does a lot of work with the restoration and has little time. I do however trusts his words as he flies the buggers. Perhaps a closer look at the data? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Thanks for the info Ham

Sorry about the mix up.

I watched some camels here in Ontario, WWII Trainers. I watch them do the most incredible turns and loops. When the pilots landed we went to over and asked what thier air speed was. 110MPH and they were doing loops and barrel rolls, splits everything.

The funny thing, they did not stall or go out of control like the current models in FB, I don't think there is a plane in there that would do that.

See you on-line

eskimo-FHmod
08-20-2003, 05:13 PM
yes well maybe that is because there are only fighters and bombers in there , mainly. you might want to try that in a storch though. dont know how that one handles but if you are after low speed that is your bird.

Nope you called me a cheater but i stayed for a few hours and you left. It must have been lag from you because i didnt get hit at all you kept missing and saying you were getting hits on me.

In 1.0 I noticed it would happen sometimes from lag on my screen I would see 30 hits + on an enemy then they would say i wasnt hitting them. Maybe thats what was happing to you.

LastRights, not jumping down your throat or anything, understand, but you can't compare the flight dynamicas of the biplanes you watched flying to those aircraft modeled in FB. 110mph were near the maximum if not the maximum speeds of the biplanes. Thus the manuevers these aircraft were designed for were being done at velocities necessary to perform the loops and barrel rolls. The WW2 fighters were several tons heavier than the wood and fabric WW1 falcons, and despite having 1500 to 2000 hp engines, the same maneuvers you spoke of have to be performed and much higher speeds to maintain energy as more energy is needed.

I do agree with one thing about the plane movement in aerial video, performance testing video on zenos warbird drive in and realtime gun camera footage, plane movement is smooth like many of the new fms in 1.1b

there are still a few planes in fb that dont move like they do in real life for instance when banking left the if you instantly stick yank and try to roll right it should be slowed down in fb its not the case which makes jinking look very unrealistic.

I think fb has the most realistic climb and dive speeds, ballistics but I think simulated stick pressure needs some work on certain a/c to make planes not have the ability to perform the odd jinking movements online, if you notice the ais movement looks extremely realistic to real footage but play online and many of the ac 190 mig p39 and yaks can perform manuevers no aircraft of wwii could perform.

Ok, I was flying on the server with u last night...your ill-tempered post does nothing for the game or the community.

Last night's battles were some of the most fun and challenging I've had yet in FB. Through a combination of excellent simulation and human involvement, we as community have once again established a high point in our hobby.

Sure the Warbirders and Ace Highers can biatch and say their's is better but they're not once all is considered.

So pipe down with the negative comments that do no good. Back your ramblings with concrete irrefutable evidence and submit your scientific findings to the bug list. Then in about 2 years you might see the fruit of your labor.

Many dedicated individuals in this community have done so, and because of it we have better flight sims today than ever.

PS your gunnery skills are pathetic. If my FW were a beach of virgin pink your gunnery skills would be a d#ck stuck on the 91 in traffic.

Fly fast, talk dirty--not the other way around...

I always promised myself that I would never get involved in threads like this. Too late.

I was flicking through a gardening book in a bookshop the other day and now I'm convinced that everything about this game is wrong from a gardening perspective.

Someone (sorry can't remember who) was kind enough to give me a fish the other week, perhaps he might be similarly generous to this thread.

Ok Dude your right not a Camel, It was a PT-26B Cornel not camel.

Feel better now, you missed the point completely 110 MPH and doing stunts in the Air.

Try that with any plane in FB, you will die.

If these were the real planes of WWII there would not be an Airforce, because everyone would be dead in the first two days of trainning.

XyZspineZyX
08-21-2003, 06:10 PM
This patch does not blow, it has made everything much more interesting to fly and gives more of a challenge

And another thing, be careful what you wish for, because you just might get flight models so realistic that all of the planes will have the same engine, roll rate, and so on, making the game very pointless.

By the way, what are you fishing for besides flames?

-McTriggerhappy

XyZspineZyX
08-21-2003, 07:45 PM
Realistic I wish. Now that would seperate the men from the boys, would it not?.

No more screaming yaks that dance on air. BF109 that flew properly, the same goes for hurcs and what are they, I 513 byplanes.

Planes that fly 350 to 400 MPH in level flight, planes that don't stall at 10 degrees pitch up.

No more ghost planes during play, no more phantom planes during play the ones you can't kill. The game would not skip a beat everytime someone came into the game or left.

Lets See

We would be able to hear bullets going through our plane instead of hey my wing fell off.

The actual game itself in campaign mode would be flawless instead of all of the performance and sound problems.

I'm sorry if I'm being picky but I develope software and if I gave my customers something like this, I would not have anymore customers.

Pretty much the game we all bought did not work more than 80% out of the box, now I'm sure Maddox is working very hard on these problems and it looks like they threw something out there to keep us quiet; but in my case we'll read the thread. Maybe I'm pis@ed because game software out of the box does not work, A patch here a patch there, here a patch there a patch everywhere a patch patch. We should all be peturbed greatly.

As for all the same roll rates and and horse power, they were not the same or we would still be fighting if it wasn,t for Fat Man and Little boy. Kabooom and Good night

stats for the cornell

Range: 430 Miles 692 Km
Stall Speed: 55 Mph 88 Km/H 45 Kt
Cruise Speed: 101 Mph 162 Km/H 90 Kt
Max Speed: 122 Mph 195 Km/H 110 Kt
Climb: 645 Ft/min 197 M/min
Ceiling: 13,200 Ft 4,023 M

so what has this got to do with the performance of a warbird?

Hmmm, I have the solution.

Sit down comfortably, lower the lights, and say to yourself as softly as you can aloud:

"It's only a game. It's only a game. My self-worth is not determined by an online session. It's only a game."

/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Now, our protagonist in this tale of woe is beset by a poor connection to the Internet and a weak grasp of WWII aviation.

I just love the "man vs. machine" stories, they always seem more exciting, owing to the fact that usually something winds up exploding, or at a minumum on fire.

Entering into an online world armed only with the experience he has a software engineer (though hopefully not for spell checkers) and a hit or miss connection, he is confronted by phenomenon he cannot reconcile with his virtual worldview. That what he sees before him is not what is behind the smokey barrier of lost packets - yet all those around him see clearly.

Floating Yaks, suspended like clouds, suddenly transport themselves magically over hundreds of meters; tracers that harmlessly fly into space find him, striking him dead; his own firing seems feeble and ineffectual.

Truly there is something wrong here, a conspiracy of the highest order against his very soul, for why else would everyone else exclude him from the norms of physics!

He wails against those that mock him for his plight with their smooth graphics and realistic performance in vain.

(zoom camera into his monitor, chasing the photons through their gun, down the video cable, and into a fantasy world within the processor. A dwarf with a lantern helmet, surrounded by three others around a porthole with light pouring though it, nasty chips in the rocks around it, look distressed and mutter to themselves)

"It's just not right, I tell you."
"We can hardly dig anything out like this."
"I barely had a chance to send his Internet History."
"Data mining has been ruined by the Great One."
"Yes, yes, I can hardly send the hardware profile."

(camera turns and goes down a tunnel, entering into a grand chamber, on which sits a huge red dragon, surrounded by round creatures with a large king, complete with robe, directing them in supplication)

"Oh, mighty worm, hear me," says the King.
The worm pauses, pulling his mighty arm from a porthole in the side of the cave.
"What is it now, Kazaa, I have no time for you."
"My cookies and files need sharing, and I would beg you would let me have a moment with a port or two."
"Never. I'm having enough of a time with this stupid flight sim."
