Hi I recently tried PF on a GF6800Ultra SLI setup - ran at a _very_ nice speed, but with all sorts of artifacts (unplayable).

Is there any chance that we will see SLI support for FB / PF ???

the basic issue w/ the Il2 engine according to benchmark testing I've seen posted at simhq on a myriad of different machine types is that Il2 is coded with a bulk of the dependancy on the CPU instead of the GPU. Sure upgrading the GPU improves FPS but improving the CPU seems to have the most profound impact on performance. I would probably say that SLI would be huge for BOB since that game I'm sure will be coded to fully utilize the GPU since the CPU will be needed for the advanced FM and physics.

This is, I understand, a driver problem. I don't think the game code has anything to do with SLI working or not. SLI drivers are very new in the scheme of things. This should be sorted by Nvidia eventually.

But, like troll2k said, there is a way to make the current SLI work by changing it's mode. Can't remember exactly what to do though.

The links I posted were for new NV SLI capable drivers with IL2 FB on the games compatibility page along with a method to create your own SLI game profiles. Hopefully this is what SLI users have been waiting for.

for what its worth, i would like to also mention that those drivers (ive had them for a little while now) also improved my performance on a single GPU (6800Ultra) by a HUGE margin.

install them clean after using a drivercleaner

www.guru3d.com (http://www.guru3d.com) is the only source u will need.

Almost double the performance of PF with SLI, green line indicates GPU load in the two modes in the screenshots at the link.
You must run it in SFR mode. As stated in this link: http://www.behardware.com/articles/536/page4.html

<span class="ev_code_RED">Over 60fps 1600x1200!</span>
That's almost double the performance!
I'm building a SLI rig now, I finally found an <span class="ev_code_RED">ASUS 6800 Ultra Extreme </span> without paying $900.00 USD.

Anyone else wanna play online with 16x12 8xAA 16xAF water=3?

I see SLI as holding a lot of promise, but very few games will be able to take advantage of its potential at this time. Future titles using engines with SLI in mind will be able to fully utelize SLI, if SLI survives.

Tested 1600x1200 8xAA 8xAF Water=3 with just one ASUS 6800 Ultra = 21 fps.

Not playable, once I have both cards installed and running in SLI mode I will post the results.

How fast a processor do you ne to see double FPS results in SLI mode? Paired with a 2.0Ghz CPU, will you still see 2x the performance increase?

2.0Ghz? not a chance. Need something like an Athlon64 4000+ I'm guessing.

I don't think 2x performance has been realized with any game on any rig so far. 1.5x to 1.75x is more likely.

If the game is CPU limited, adding 2 or 4 video cards won't help a bit. I wouldn't even bother with SLI with less than a 3GHz CPU.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Both cards would still be waiting patiently for calls from the bottlenecked CPU.

I don't think we'll see much of an FPS boost regarding flight sims (and most games in general) until they are designed more heavily around having the video card handle a lot more of the calculations independant of the processor (if possible).
