View Full Version : How is the Audio in PF?

In the most recent PF trailer one thing that really struck me was how much improved the audio was. However, my question is, was the sound edited into that trailer? or is that the actual in-game sound (the Engine and gun sounds in particular)?

About the trailer itself...anyone else notice how, for the first minute or so of the trailer, the parts that had weapons fire... I recognized the .50cal sounds from CFS3, and they had a 20mm cannon sound from CFS3 being used by a .50cal turret gun http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
After that however, is when I really was stunned, the gunshots were EXTREMELY realistic starting at about a minute five seconds into the trailer, when a Zeke is on the tail of a Corsair, firing away.

As you all can tell, i'm a bit of an audio freak when it comes to games...the right audio adds so much immersion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

i dont think they are the real sounds as the planes sound so good but on the tech demo they dont sound as good

ah, but the tech demo was also much older than the trailer, yes? It's possible they hadn't placed the new sound in the game yet.

There are no new sounds in PF. It's the same crappy noise as in FB/AEP

A pity. I find it odd that they used such excellent sounds with the trailer, meaning they had new audio at their disposal...but they chose not to implement it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Wow, that reply just Fked up the whole page, LoL, it got stretched as hell.

On-topic= When most saw that corsair video, those super-mega-hyper-ultra-ninja sounds really seemed impossible for this engine, there was a thread discussing about how cool it would have been to have REAL AUTENTHIC sounds. It would.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I was so excited about hearing those sounds on the trailer i thought theyd be on the game hearing that there not made my head explode for a bit there lol

The weapon sounds would most likely be easy to implement. The engines, however, would be extremely tricky/time consuming to get right. And given the jeopardy that the IL-2 series is in thanks to piracy, it's understandable why they can't take the time to implement new sounds. Very frustrating situation, 60% is a huge number, that's a tremendous amount of money lost. Imagine that extra money going into IL-2's development.

My lawn mower sounds more powerfull than the AC in FB. I really hope this is fixed in BoB.

maybe they should make a lawnmowing simulator..too bad we cant put our own sounds into the game ..

Well, i don`t know about PF, but AEP sounds pretty powerfull on my logitech system hehe... at least people next door told me so. If you expecting something thru dektop speakers or headphones... i doubt that will work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I am satisfied with headphones since I got my Audigy 2. Clear and distinct 3D effects create good immersion. I really don't know what I'm missing, only what I've gained http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
