Warning… If you have any affection for the Spitfire I suggest you don’t look at this site. I did and have temporally lost the power of sight in one eye and now have a permanent grimace due to the wind changing whilst I looked upon the ‘restored’ Spit… http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

So don’t say you haven’t been warned… http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

well.... give the lads some credit, it was volunteer work and what was recovered has been preserved, kinda. Better than many of us could have done, i guess.

I'm with marc_h on this one. There wasn't much left of it (if you saw what little they recovered) and they made the best out of what was.

Better than just chunking it or leaving it buried. I think they helped rebuild a piece of history that is significant to them.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired
signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not
fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not
spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the
genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way
of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is
humanity hanging on a cross of iron.

I applaud ANY preservation of history. Could they have done a better job? Maybe - who knows. But I would like to thank them for their efforts.

I found that site a few years ago when I did a DEEP google search for something Messerschmidt and obscure.

They found a Bf-109 in India. Amazing... here is the link from the same site.
