Some aircraft you just love to kill. For me it's the P-38. I don't know why, but those things really wind me up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif. Perhaps it's the, nothing to it way they can outdistance you and dictate the fight. When I finally manage to catch one on my terms, I really let fly. This comming from someone who gives safe passage to crippled SDB's and Wildcats when things are slow on ZvsW http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

P-38's though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif Grr! A tailless, spinning, flaming coffin is too good for 'em http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Which makes me wonder, whats your favourite prey?

I love to go head on against HE-111's - 2 second burt into the cockpit usually sends them down into the dirt and is a heck of a lot safer than trying to approach from the 6.

When I fly Axis, I like destroying P-47's and I-16's.

When I fly Allied, I love hunting down FW-190's and Zero's. The Zero especially is such an easy kill once hit.

I vote for that. I got a lot of satisfaction in the Hurricane Season campaign taking out Ju-88s with a Hurricane MkI by blazing away right into their cockpits.

Err...and why is that?

I don't get a chance to fly them that often because everyone else is...but the Spitfire flies in this game much like it does in most of the other games (just with more details and nasty habits). I don't believe all this garbage spewed about from the forums - especially because I find them so easy to beat.

I love to kill those little Russian bi-planes and I-16s with the 109F-2 on early EF maps. Extremely satisfying.

I fly FW190 mostly on arcade servers right now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif and I've annihilated so many Spitfires+25's that it is actually kind of boring now. Killing bombers has also gotten rather routine.

P-38s are fun to kill because they are so rare and also - 2 engines= 200pts. It's also one of the biggest crybaby planes so that makes it satisfying as well.

But the best kills don't have to be any specific plane type. The best kills happen when you are flying lone-wolf, no comms against a team or squad that is working together and using Teamspeak. There is nothing quite like using tactics to beat a numerically superior foe, or shooting down one of their fighters right under the nose of their wingman.

Even if you can't get a kill - just harrasing an enemy squad and forcing them to abandon their objective and concentrate on you is a blast. Just being able to tie them down is great fun.

You know you are getting under their skin when on an arcade server they start using "gaydar" (cycle through ctrl-F6) to hunt you down personally http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I like Betty's... a couple of nights ago I was flying a P-47 on Zeke vs Wildcat and noticed a lone Betty beneath me above our fleet... Well I dove on it and when I was close enough I let rip... he took a lot of hits... it was like a 5 second burst and nearly all of it hit... well it started smoking grey (is that a fuel leak or what?) and it went into a dive which I followed... and then to my amazement it pulled up into a 90 degree climb which I tried to follow but I stalled and it just kept on climbing! I lost it while recovering from the stall so I couldn't finish the kill... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

109s mostly... 190s are quite rewarding too, especially the Ta`s with their long wings.

But I would love to down a GO229 or Do335 or even a 109z, but I never see them offline, not even in DCG. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

VulcherBird RunNineties baby!

Nothing finer than watching a panick-stricken 190 person in disbelief, struggling to outmaneuver my P38J. When they finally tumble out of control, it's pure heaven to watch .50s and 20mms nail every surface. Most 190s end up tumbling out of the sky since their damage model is set too high.

They are all equally easy to kill as the engines are so killable and flammable. I also get a unusually high amount of pilot kills against 109s. Far from heavily armoured, they are meat on the table. Even if you use light machine guns. Only Japanese planes
are easier to kill.

Without a doubt either of the SB Sov fast bombers, poor things. I owe them a great deal because I learned how to shoot through (and I really mean through) them. They are the best targets in the game---big, wide wings with unprotected fuel tanks, and horrible gun arcs. All you need to perfect your shooting is to send up 16 of them on the QMB and go hunting in a Finnish Hurricane I.

My favorites are the morons who try to climb into fights, hair all on fire and actually think they're going to get a shot.

Even with this sim's problems with energy bleed, you can still exploit some energy and alt advantages, especially against foes who know nothing about either.

They just impale themselves on you, and it's fun to watch thier death throes.

I love ripping Bf-109's apart in my P-40 or Yak-1b. Most of the pilots, especially the n00bish ones, don't expect it.

Zekes are also fun to shred to pieces.

If I fly axis (usually as a 109G-6 pilot) my favorite plane to rip apart is the P-51. Everyone expects it to be SO uber and one short burst to the engine puts it nicely out of comission. The best is when n00bs say I cheat because their P-51 can take more of a beating!

Depends. There was a time when I loved to kill Fockes, and there was a time where I loved to kill Spits. By now I just love to kill something, as long as I don't kill myself.

I draw a lot of satisfaction from successfull energy fighting, which, according to this forum, does not work. But it does.

My favorites to kill are Spits and P-39s in an Oscar. It's wonderful when someone used to ETO tries a PTO server and tries to out-turn everything they encounter when flying a Spit. Either one burns nicely with a few 7.7s in the right spot.

Diving down in a Spitfire to take a 190 by surprise...they don't usually find Spitfires higher than them!

Otherwise it used to be the Ki-84 - but that was back in version 3.04 when they were UFO's of the day - used to keep flying and turning tight with both tail wings shot off, streaks of flame from the fuel tanks and engines and they were a b**ch to shoot down!

Depends on what I am flyin;

Flying a Ki-43;
LOVE killing Spits and P-40's. Spits because they are so fast and 40's because they are so stinking tough. I particuarly notice the spit drivers getting upset about being schooled by a "**** plane". P-40 drivers take it better, they know the Oscar is dangerous, Spit jocks assume the can outturn anything and get rudely surprised when they cant.

Flying the Ki-84;
Corsairs! I LOVE smoking Corsairs in an 84! Nothing is as much fun as booming a B&Z plane! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif The Hayate is one of my all time favorite rides, and I do respectable well with it.

P-38;
Love nailing 190's. Folks are always so shocked when you smack em in a 38, especially the 190s trying the old "split S and run" tactic. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

La5FNs and LA7s with Anton. You know you have one chance (if you saw him first and are above him that is) so actually killing them is very satisfying. They are especually fun if you heavily damage their engines (yes, it happens if you hit them with 10+ 20mm into the nose) since than you can toy with them and toying with Lavockin is something that doesn't happen often. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I prefer the namesake of this entire game the Il-2 Sturmovik.
When they are flying close to thier targetin a line you just start from the back and work your way to number one with a 190 or 109 with gunpods. The better pilots will peel off to give the rear gunner a shot giving you a great cockpit rake.
B-17's and Liberators from a dive is lots of fun too.
Anything I can shake off my tail.

Most favourite is the P-40. One round in the engine and she's dead, most of the time going down in flames.
The IL-2 on the otherhand is very good in loosing all kinds of surfaces before going down, great fun too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Try in a 109G, you dont even need Mk108 (actually Mk108 is bad, too hard to aim and too much recoil), just place a a small burst in the wing root, right where it meets the fuselage, from behind and the wing usually just falls off!
