W/ that sum of money you can go to Gateway or Dell and get a decent rig. If you build it yourself, you can create a power-house. First thing to do is get yourself a technical resource (Knowledgeable friend), or check local mom & pop computer stores because the one local to me has a free shop where you can work on your own rig w/ the guidance of a pro (even if you didn't buy from them http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)Two things to keep in mind when building yourself:

1. It's relatively easy to do (most things simply plug into each other, and are sized so you can't plug the wrong things together, or plug the right things together upside down or back wards
2. If you run into trouble, it gets hard real fast, this is why you need to have some resource before you begin.

BTW you may want to post this over in TS for some of the guys over there have alot more knowledge of hardware than I. Also, check out THIS (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Home.jsp) website. The prices are very good, plus most of the stuff has free 2nd day shipping
