Is the Hurricane IId included in the 4.09 planeset or is it a mod addition? I used to be able to select it to fly, but now it doesnt show up in the plane list.

That would be a MOD. It'd be nice for it to be submitted to TD perhaps for future inclusion?

Really VW? I could've sworn I had it in 4.08. Four cannons in place of the eight .303in on the Mk I which was under the Axis aircraft, right? 4.08 even included a Soviet field mod version that had 2MGs and 2 cannon if I recall. Humph. *Shrug*

Kira, you're talking about IIC version. IID is the one with two effin' big anti-tank cannons. Modded stuff only, so far.

I'd like to see someone say they doubt those Hurris ever killed a tank!

Thanks for the info and LOVE that video (those pilots had attachments of titanium)! TD should DEFINATELY include the 2d in the future 4.1 patch it is soooooooo fun doing ground attack with it, not to mention blasting the snot out of bombers with the 40mm cannons! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif Uh... er... DUH! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif (Big difference between 20mm and 40mm, sir.)

Interesting that they hand loaded the rounds individually. I guess belt fed at that size would take up way too much room.

They basically only flew for a few months, usually at low altitude (one aircraft returning with no tail wheel having clipped it on the turret of a German tank) and took out a lot of trucks, half tracks, armored cars and a reasonable number of tanks.

The tanks destroyed ironically were often captured Honey's and Crusaders though they bagged a fair share of Pzkfw III and IV. (By the time Tigers turned up in Tunisia the IId was retired).

Good read:

http://www.flightglobal.com/pd...00019.html?tracked=1 (http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1951/1951%20-%200019.html?tracked=1)

Details of the gun:

http://www.wwiiequipment.com/i...unsrockets&Itemid=60 (http://www.wwiiequipment.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=97:vickers-40mm-qsq-gun&catid=44:gunsrockets&Itemid=60)

Claimed penetration at 400 yards (350fps aircraft speed, 20 degrees) was 58mm - or 85mm with the "littlejohn" adapter.

Note that the standard version was more than adequate for Pzkfw IV and the modified gun in theory could penetrate turret and rear armor of a tiger.
