Hello All,

This past weekend was my once in a life-time meeting. I met Chuck Yeager, Bud Anderson, and Gunther Rall. I was able to speak with each for 15- 20 min per person. I was able to get all of their signatures, I had Yeager and Anderson sign a P-51 print and a recieved a personal print from Rall.

I'll post pic's on my site when I get them back from the developers. Hopefully that will be within the week before my service goes down. The symposioum that was held lasted about 2 hours and they each talked about their first and last missions of the war. I'll post notes as well when I get my pic's back. All can I can say about the whole affair is what a great group of people. Not only the special guests (listed above) but all of the WWII vets that attended. So many great stories of both valor and humour, and everything in between.

I was also able to meet Jack Rauch (NASCAR/Ford Engines). He is the owner of the 3ea P- 51's (Old Crow and Glamerous Glennis III and a racer). Excellent man. He donates his aircraft to many different functions like this one and allows these WWII vets to still fly them. I'll post more details later, but for now it was just a "fan"tastic experiance!!

Bad ***!
That must have been amazing! It's a bit of a humbling thing meeting Vets - it always puts things in new light. It makes me think how lucky I was not to be involved in WW2 and how many people lost their lives in the War.

The bravery of anyone who climed into a WW2 fighter cockpit is beyond belief, irrespective of what Nation they fought for.

For me thats one of the reasons I love this game - every time I fly I think HOW did people find the courage to do this for real day in day out!

I was to take responsability for the newcomer Erich Hartmann. I looked at him and thought: Oh my God, what are they sending us now? What a baby!

I think anyone who had the testacular fortitude to climb into the gunners positions and fox holes in any conflict also should be put in that bravery catagory

"Of all my accomplishments I may have achieved during the war, I am proudest of the fact that I never lost a wingman. It was my view that no kill was worth the life of a wingman. . . . Pilots in my unit who lost wingmen on this basis were prohibited from leading a [section]. They were made to fly as wingman, instead."
