I'm now watching a film on BBC 2 about a Mosquito mission which was used to attack a tunnel using Highball, but I can't remember what its called and I have not got a TV guide- any ideas? Its quite a good film, especially at the end, when the attack takes place (I've seen it before.) Of course, everyone has Spiffing accents /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
Edit: Its actually about the attack on a prison, where the Mosquito was used to blast holes in the prison walls- it was called Chaunon (or something similar.)

To avoid the frustration of misfortune,
That, in this world, is happiness.

Have you got teletext? Page 602.

Oh, alright then, it's called '.Mosquito Squadron'
Nice shots of a WWII twin-engined British aircraft -I'm all for that....but those hairstyles and 60's female fashions are SHOCKING!

I missed the end as well, the Simpsons was on Sky One. However, I've seen it before and it is quite good, with good Mosquito scenes. It also has some ground combat, with the French resistance coming up against a tank and trying to resque a Mosquito crew. But I agree that the fashion is quit amusing. When I switched it on, I thought it was "the Battle of Britain" which I haven't seen for years.

It's gotta be the worst war film ever, even worse than Saving Private Ryan or Pearl Harbour (which wasn't a war movie at all.)

BoB week on UkHistory all this week starting Monday night. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I reserved "The Battle of Britain" video at my local Library the other week. They said there's one copy in the whole of Hampshire (Library netork) and that they'd order it in for me.
Then a few days later I received a phone call telling me that the person who had borrowed it last hadn't returned it since July!
So could the person who has 'forgotten' to return the copy of "The Battle of Britain" to Aldershot library please return it!

Anyway I hope UkHistory show the film this week.

S! Simon.

actually, that movie could be about a true Mossie raid. The raid on Amiens prison in 1943. the RAF used precision bombing to help between 200 and 250 resistance members escape. I think they lost the mission leader in that raid. other then that, I guess it's up to you now.

I'm a crappy pilot, but one hell of a shot.

I'm sure it was inspired by the Amiens, but historical it is NOT - in the film the raid is on a POW camp, and the whole thing is entirely and entertainingly preposterous, in a Commando comics-type way.

EDIT - here's the poop on the film from the Radio Times

MOSQUITO SQUADRON
A host of familiar faces that you can't quite put a name to keep their upper lips stiff as our boys try to destroy a French chateau containing the Nazis' super-duper doodlebug, the V3, in this derivative Second World War drama. It's worth watching for some nice flying sequences and the mellifluous support of Charles Gray. UK, 90 min.

Directed by: Boris Sagal

Filmed in: 1968
