Hi all.

How can I disable default mouse look in IL-2? I installed PPJoy driver to emulate joystick with mouse. It works, but I can't play, because when I move mouse I also look in other direction, which makes everything rather difficult http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Why not get a joystick?

I have one (Logitech Extreme Digital 3D), but it is almost useless - very unprecise, with many "noises" (flickering of all axes). I can't afford new joystick at the moment, so I wanted to test flying with mouse. It seems quite promising (at least it's precise http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ), but with mouse binded to view padding it's unusable.

May not work but I know when I use trackir mouse panning is off. Try setting the trackIR setting in conf.ini to 1. In other words, lie to the game and make it think you might have trackir and see if it disables the mouse panning...

If you have optical mouse, put tape over the red light on the bottom. Mouse won't detect any motion then.

...not clear tape, use masking tape or electrical tape, something the red light can't see through. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In the Conf.ini file in the [rts] section there is this line:

mouseUse=2

try setting the value to 0 or 1 and see what happens. I haven't tried it myself, so I can't say what might happpen.

This is an important question, i would like to play in office, without flight gear, but have the same problem. Is it possible to disable mouse look? Could developers give us conf.ini line to disable it? I also have a laptop, same problem.

Under the [rts] section the mouseUse is:
0 - No mouse (at all)
1 - Use window's mouse
2 - Use IL-2 Mouse

So on setting zero - how are you gonne start anything without a mouse? - IL2 sits there .... lol main screen.... :O

You can allways use the numpad keys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Absolute direction - instant - or use VAC http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
http://mysite.verizon.net/res19wz2/VAC/index.htm

Thats voice activated commands http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif works great - what am i saying? GRrrEAAAT!

Just keep in mind that the game isn't nearly as awesome to play until you use a joystick. Happy flying nevertheless....

Thanks for all answers. mouseUse=0 is not good, because I can't start the game (as mentioned above). trackIR=1 may work, but in FB - i still have IL-2 at the time.
Well, I see I need to get money for new joystick. Hope I'll have more luck than with my present joy.

Greetings.

Oh, I didn't see that you needed mouse movement, never mind the tape thing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

If you have 20$ and a WalMarts nearby, get the 20$ Saitek Cyborg Graphite. Very simple stick with 6 inch movement stop to stop both directions, the best buttons but only 3 of them (just like real life WW2 control sticks), and best throttle ever made for a joystick. Also, it comes with no software. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Best of all, its only 20$ here in USA WalMarts.

Also if you have 40$ you can get the Logitech racing wheel/pedals (non force feedback). I never could hit anything until I got my racing pedals for rudder control. Pedals plug into wheel which plugs into USB port. Again, no software needed. Put racing wheel under desk facing down so it won't roll around, then totally forget its there.

Though I don't think setting the TrackIR line to 'on' will give the desired effect (I believe the game detects if the TrackIR software/signal is active before disabling the mouse), I wonder if NewView (or similar) would act to disable the mouse? It pretends to be TrackIR, however it is emulating the mouse, so I suppose it would disable the mouse for the 'mouse-to-joy' inputs as well? I don't know how or what NewView actually does, but it may help in this situation.
