Not sure about the poorest, but go into Gibraltar and see why that would make a poor PATROL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Port of Spain. Lots of tankers spawn/sail out of there in 1942.

i would say Gibralter was a big let down , all that sweating , hoping and praying while running the straights, and all i find sitting in port was just one merchant ship.

I am glad to hear that there actually is port raiding. I have sweated into Scapa, Hartlepool, and Loch Ewe (even followed a combat flotilla) only to find nothing. I did find bunkers and coastal light towers that I wish I could have targeted with my deck gun...would be an awesome addition to the expansion pack. PS: I dont use the external camera...does that help to find ships in harbor?

No, periscope is all you need. Put it on 6x zoom and look for ship's masts

Loch Ewe and Scapa Flow guarantee a Fiji every time i go there... not sure about any others, those 2 are my usual haunts. But I'm gonna try a few of the others mentioned above... 10K worth of tankers is too juicy to pass by.

I've been to Scapa last night, only to find nothing there except a darn net on my way out, and two V&W's sinking my but. It's 1939 - do I need to wait a bit longer in the war or get a mod or something, or was it just bad luck that the port was empty?

it's jsut your luck. Cjeck the Community manual for dates when the ships are moored there

I'm in 1941, i sunk over 800K, and the best other captain got about 250 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Those guys must play with the 100% realism http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Ok I was at Loch Ewe today. Found some V&W, one Tribal and one T2. Wasted three fishies to get the T2 and didn't bother setting up for the rest.

Later on while setting up for a C3 in stormy weather at night my crew kinda didn't notice a V&W nearby... Got so scared I flanked all the way home http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Question regaurding these port raids. I play the RU145 mod at 93% realism and I have been to all of those listed above including Liverpool, and I have yet to see a single ship docked at any of them. When I played SH3 before the mod I found some ships at ports in England, but none since I started the playing the mod. Are there any ships at port with the RU145 mod, or is it just in SH3 alone do they show up?

They show up at pre-determined dates in Scapa Flow and loch Ewe, and in other ports you can count on at least one docked merchant. Thus is with SHIII patch 1.4b and no mods

The question still remains. Are there any ships to be found at harbors/port with the RU145 mod? Because I haven't found any, but I am only on my 6th patrol in jan 1940.

I'm fairly new to the game and so far I've only tried Liverpool. I managed to sneak through the narrowest part of the strait and tried to stick close to the west shore so I could lessen the chance of a DD or patrol craft accidently being on top of me. Unfortunately with 6 meteres under my keel, my conning tower broke the surface. A patrol craft right nearby opened fire and since he was too close to torpedo, I surfaced and lit him up with the deck gun. Didn't matter. Even though he was on fire from bow to stern, he still sank my sub. I might try a more open port next time.

P.S. Running GWX 1.02 with SHcommander

Dunkirk just before Operation Dynamo (found and sunk 2 Passenger Liners, also spotted AMC but insufficient torpedoes to deal with. Watch out for Ju87s though, friendly fire damage inevitable if you're within then confines of the harbour)
Also Freetown, another Liner usually in residence, along with a Heavy and Medium Tanker, with numerous Tramps and Small Merchants.
The Mediterranean ports are good for fairly high tonnage, and usally have at least a Dido, often a Fiji and sometimes both!

NB - This is with GWX

Casablanca is good - just a couple of armed trawlers to deal with and I found about 8 targets there. You need to keep a good look at the big map though (not just the attack plot) as the harbour walls hide many ships unless you go right in.

Gibraltar is not so good - in GWX offers Fiji or Southampton and Dido + some tankers/merchants but escort http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif and shallow water
