So yeah, finally after it seemed like a decade, I finally got a interview at Gamestop! Anybody here have any experience with them, employment wise? What should I expect etc.

Anyways, wish me luck.

My friend Jeremiah got a job at gamestop, although me and him are friends with the manager and other employees so we kind of have the hook up.

Good luck http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I worked for Gamestop for a few months.

First thing, expect to work for very little at first and get very few hours. The decent money...and hours...only really come when you get to be in the first level of management. I don't say that to try to disuade you or anything, but I want you to go in knowing what to expect.

What's cool is you can "rent" games from them for a few days. You don't have to pay but you have to sign something.

Good luck, hun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks for the heads up, thats what I had expected, at the same time its fine, for me its gonna basically just be a job that id do for the enjoyment, working with games, not necessarily about the money at this point.

ZOMG! My Buckle interview is tomorrow. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I'm excited! My fourth interview ever, so it's not super duper new to me, therefore I'm not really worried, but stoked!

I just hope that if I get hired they don't require me to buy their clothes (even though I love the style http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)... maybe later on, but as of now, I can't afford to spend $100 on a pair of jeans. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I wish life was that simple so I could work doing something I like rather than for money but unfortunately life is not and I've got to do something I dislike doing

Ok... My interview is in a couple hours and I just got a call from Petco asking for an interview. So it looks like I've got two interviews to go to, the Buckle and Petco, I'm not sure what to choose! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Well, your birdy would love to have free food from Petco if you work there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I went ahead and decided to go with Buckle. I'd rather not smell like nasty animals every evening when I come home. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I agree with your decision hun...but for a different reason. I'd get all attached to the animals, and every time they sold one, I'd cry. lol I love animals so it would be too hard on my heart.

John did soooo good! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif They're still interviewing more people, so he won't find out until a little bit.

I've got my second interview with the main manager today in just a couple hours. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

ZOMG! John got an interview at Intrex (a computer store), too!

I went for my second interview today, talked to another home decor store about possibly being assistant manager, and got a call from Best Buy for an interview tomorrow. Best Buy > all. I hope everything works out. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Another update... whew, it's hectic lol.

Right before I left for my Best Buy interview I got a call from Gamestop asking me to come in and fill out a regular application, because my other one was online. So I went to the Best Buy interview and everything went great, there were three steps, and we completed two. They said they want to hire me and add me to the team, but they have to schedule an interview with the GM, as a formality, before I can begin working there.

So anyway, I was very excited about that, I basically have that job now. However, I went to Gamestop to get their application, and the manager said he was interested in possibly hiring me as an assistant manager there. I told him about my status with this Best Buy interview, and that we need to try to get this interview process done as quickly as possible before Best Buy calls me, so he asked me to come back tomorrow with my application and we will get an interview scheduled right away.

So yes, very interesting. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Decisions, decisions! I definitely want to go with Best Buy or Gamestop with my options now. I just have to figure out which one. Best Buy is definitely a bigger and nicer store, but I would be starting as a cashier. Gamestop is not near as glamorous, and this Gamestop in particular is definitely not the nicest one I've been to, but I'd be offered an Assistant Manager position. So as of now, if I had both jobs offered to me instantly, I'd go with Gamestop, but we'll see. I'm going back tomorrow and we'll schedule and interview soon.

But wow, this is exciting. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
