I see Bastogne and St Vith there.

Looks like we will have the Battle of the Buldge to use all those American planes.

Now, what will Oleg's next area be?

The Battle of the Buldge was roughly Christmas, and New year 1944-1945.

The Germans counter attacked against the Americans in the Ardennes region of Belgium/France.

They made a buldge into the lines, before the Americans could regroup and counter attack.

The early part of the battle, the weather was bad and there was no flying, but ... after the planes could get up ... there was no stopping the Americans.

this all looks lovely and of the brilliantly high standard we've all come to expect, that's for sure and will be a lot of fun as and when it all's ready.

I like a lot of the ETO engagements, but I'd really, really like a flyable Soviet twin engined bomber, say the Pe2. Any word on that or similar?

Don't get me wrong there's some great things coming but would be just great to have a more or less complete set of flyables for Eastern Front, before 'Forgotten Battles' becomes 'Il2 - Extremely Well Known Battles of the Western Front and Pacific That We Forgot To Put In, But We Remembered Now So That's Why They're In Forgotten Battles'?

I thing there will be so much in the update that it will be an add-on called the Forgotten Battles of the Western Front, and it is probable going to cost you money, not that I have any problem with that as long as we get it before lets say November.

I do not mean the patch this will be free with one or two planes but the later planed update alias add-on.

Man .... just have to be negative about 1 thing. PLEASE make the rivers a dark blue on these maps!!! The Lvov map is brutal to try and navigate by looking for rivers. It appears this map (although the background color is light ... thanks) ... still has those light blue rivers. Argh ... I get a headache after just a few minutes squinting to see where I am ... I just hope the pay add-on (if that's the case) comes out soon.

Battle of the Buldge, now we will have combined Il-2 with Jane's WWII Fighters (my favorite flight sim until Il-2 came out).

Holy crap!!!! We're in for a treat! I love those telephone cables and the roadblocks. One thing I wish we had was a fence for putting around camps. I had no idea that someone was working on a B-25. I wonder if the Zeros are for an eastern Eastern Front add on, Soviets v/s the Japanese. Makes sense because they aren't doing the Corsair, so it can't be the Pacific Air War.

I`m not very keen on that Pacific/US route in this game (becuse there are better priorities like the Spit/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif but the truth is it is going to work as a business strategy for Oleg. He`ll get an extended life for his product, lots of $ from US players and finally put Microsoft out of the business for combat flight sims. I don`t imagine anybody buying CFS 2 or 3 if ETO and Pacific become available in FB.

Hence, combat flight sims may be a nich market, but soon Oleg may have like 80 % of it/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif And it doesn`t look like his position will be jeopardised by anybody within, say, 3 years at least.

Dressed in IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVAL COLORS !!!

And a B25 !!!

Excellent, now my battle of the Bismarck sea Online Multiplayer Coop will have more historical Aircraft that took part in this battle included.

The Japanese convoy en route to Lae harbour was attacked by B-17s and B-25s, I have the early Model MK1 Blenhiem standing in for the Australian Beufighters that attacked the convoy, I have the Airicobras that flew out of Port Moresby as fighter escorts, and soon we will have the Japanese Zeros that flew Cap over the convoy.

Also the P38 Lightning was involved in this area as well,
Some screen shots of Aircraft from the Online Coops is at

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

Any of you read "Thunderbolt the P-47" with Martin Caidin telling the story of Robert S. Johnson.

Book quote in chapter 18:

Jimmy Stewart took his flight down to strafe Lille airdome; it was a trap, and the moment the Thunderbolts came into sight of the field all hell erupted. Owens fighter took a flak burst in the fuel tanks; Stewart screamed wildly, "Bail out, bail out, your on fire!" A heartbroken Stewart chewed up the field in vicious fashion, running so close to the ground that he smashed into a telephone pole. It was impossible, it couldn't happen, but the Thunderbolt sheared the pole in two and Stewart came home with a jagged piece of the pole impaled in his wing.

Lots more great stuff in this book. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

AND a Pacific Map/Campaign(s)[See Zero, Ki84, B25, P38, etc]!!!

If this stuff comes in the paid addon, I want the Development to test all the new stuff, and see If they find anymore bugs in the game and with the new planes before releasing it, I don't want another half a year of waiting again. Every time I play FB, I get tired of playing cause someone made the guns weaker than they were in IL-2. I dont mind waiting a mounth or two waiting for them to test it all out, as long as they catch the bugs before they give it to us. Thats all I want. One more thing... I WANT THE MC202!!!!!!!!!

I think it's just eastern front at the moment.

I wonder what the Zero is for too. Must be some Pacific add-on or maps planned - I suppose though you could say that some may have flown when Soviets attacked Japs in '45 but they had so little fuel by then I wonder.

But my bet is on Pacific add-on, but I wish they'd get the eastern front planes finished off before they rush into new areas.

Why do you near sighted morons want to keep it an Eastern Front? Just a little FYI. Its OLEG who is doing the Zero, not some 3rd party artist. Its OLEGS game, he decides what fronts this game is, not you. Are you scared of allied aircraft threatning your Luftwaffa superiority?

Again, if you dont want the Zero, dont install it. Its that simple. Dont try to ruin it for other people because of your biest openions.

P.S. IL2 was an Eastern Front only game. FB is a WWII flight sim. Get with the times.
